'00 Camaro SS, should I jump on this offer?
Just got what I thought was a VERY good offer on my SS but I wanted to check on here and let you guys in to see if it's a good deal or not. I'm not really looking to sell my SS, I love my car, BUT I have been looking into a C5 because I owned a Stingray at 16 and it was sold out from under me by my family because they weren't too excited about the idea of a 16 year old boy in a Corvette, so ever since I have been dying to own another one. Sorry for the length of the post but if my SS is sold the money will deff be going towards a nice, low miles C5 or a higher mile Z06. Please let me know your thoughts. The price i was offered for the car is $18k OR $17.5k and I keep my intake and TB. Mods are as follows:

Retail on your car is $10,000 ... ! You won't see anything close to that offer in this economy again. It is currently a buyers market and there are great deals out there. I wouldn't pass that up if in your shoes.

By the way, there are clean "good mileage" Z06's out there for $20,000. Don't settle for a "high mileage" Z06. Cash always talks in this economy, so with $18,000-$20,000 cash in hand, I am confident you will be driving a "good mileage" Z06 soon. Just be patient for the right deal!

If your single ontop of being 20 with a not so perfect driving record, a V8 Camaro is pretty expensive in itself, but you might find a Z06 or any 'Vette much more expensive to insure. Two-seaters are considered sports cars. Get a quote before you buy!

Before you get too excited make sure the guy who offered that isn't blowing smoke or trying to scam you (hopefully it's someone you know well)
If it sounds too good to be true...........
At your age, you could do a lot of things with that kind of coin in your pocket not necessarily revolving around fast cars. You could even sell yours, buy another mod it and still have a good chunk to be "smart" with

Yeah the guy is a friend of mine and I've known him and his family for years and when we were talking about it yesterday he brought up his bank account on the computer to show me the money was there and all we had to do was run to the bank and take it out or get a cashiers check.
Also I am young but money hasn't been too much of an issue in my life due to my family owning it's own company for over a century now. I have another Camaro that is my project car which I'll still be dropping money into the reason I want the Z is something nice to DD and still be quick. Probably won't mod it heavily but then again I always say that and look where it leads me haha!
The quotes I have been given insurance wise are around $260 a month or $1,400 every 6 months.

What are you waiting for?? $17,500 or $18,000 is HUGE $$ for that car. I do agree about the insurance. That sounds horribly expensive but what are you paying for your current ride in comparison?

If hes a close friend id feel bad ripping him off for the kind of money to be honest. Someone i dont know i could care less but thats murder if you take his money and run.
Then again, some people are willing to pay for a car that they KNOW personally has been taken care of.
