Want to buy 01 Trans AM ....good buy ?
Hello everyone, this is my first post on LS1 Tech.....I'm a member on the camaro forums.
I'm ready to upgrade to and LS1 and I have found a car I really like. But I want to make sure its a good purchase and I won't be regretting the decision.
The car is :
01 Pontiac Trans Am
Forged Bottom End
Built Tranny.... Auto
Aftermarket Heads, Intake manifold, and Cam
4:56 gears.
about 98k on car.....under 10k since motor work.
original color is silver, but the outside is painted flat black.
It has turn down exhaust
There aren't any receipts of the engine build or anything.
The interior has been removed except for the passenger and driver seat.
No carpet or passenger seats or anything in the trunk.
But the car comes with all the stuff taken out.
I'd like to get the car....they are asking $5500
Does this sound like a good deal ?
I hope I'm posting in the right section...I apologize if I posted in the wrong part of the forum.
Any opinions and advice are welcome !
I want to make sure I make the right decision.
Thanks everyone !

Thanks everyone for the advice.
Sorry I forgot to put what I was wanting to use the car for.
I was wanting to drive it almost everyday and drive it to the track on the weekends and drive it back home.
Something you can beat on everyday
But it sounds like I should keep looking.
It doesn't have the AC compressor either so I would have to put that on.

keep looking for sure, if it had everything in it that would be a killer deal, honest i would try and work something out like that , but as it sits for sure pass, run like hell. you do not want an ex racecar for an every day driver, for a lil more money you can find something very clean and solid that hasnt been hacked up, how much are you looking to spend, ever think of a ss, i have found there a lil cheaper and can get a lil more for your money

Thanks for the reply.
I have $9200 to spend.
I found a real nice Trans AM on auto trader but its a little out of my price range.
However, this guy that lives close to me who is friends with a friend of mine has a built civic 00 SI for sale.
Its all motor and he's got it for 5k .... I'm gonna go check it out this week.
Currently I have a 96 Z28 LT1... I like the car and I've enjoyed owning it but its time to move on to something else.
I'm open to anything...I like domestics and imports.
My camaro is for sale, I've had it for sale for a about two months ....I've had a couple offers but no deals. I'm asking 4800 for it. But I'm not stuck on that price, I'll deal some.

if you have 9500 to spend you can get everything you are looking for out of a ls1 car, today is a buyers market, doesnt hurt to make people offers, this time of year is a very hard time to sell a car, dont buy a damn civic, if you do first time you run into a well built sorry stock ls car for that matter you will kick your own ***

you will always have to drive for the best deals, i always plan on getting a plane ticket when looking for a car, take your time find the right one, like i said 9500 can get ya something really nice, what i would do is look for cars that cost a lil more and try to make an offer, im not saying go around low balling people but some people are just looking for the first decent offer.example 2 years ago i made an offer to this guy for his cobra, my offer was strong at 17 he said i was a low baller, well 2 years later he just sold the car and he only got 13.5 for it. he told me he wish he would have just sold it to me,
