Looking at a car, 02 SS M6 with 6400 miles like the title says. Original owner, all paperwork (window sticker, etc) and perfect.

What's it worth realistically?

Also considering a 2001 Firehawk M6 with 55k miles, NBM looks like it's in good shape, small dent in the quarter panel. A driver. Value?

 

The 6400 miles SS is going to fall in a wide price range due to the crazy low miles. Premiums are definitely in order for a car like this. You might steal it for somewhere in the high teens ($18,000+) but expect low 20's ($21,000+). A dealer vs a private owner will make a world of difference here. A dealer probably won't sell it for under $20,000. I'd be surprised.

I'd personally never buy one of these cars unless i got a SCREAMING deal on it. (I like to drive) and that's not likely to happen because people will pay good money for cars with low miles on them. I'd stay away from it unless you truely planned on never driving it, because as soon as you do that value is going down the *******.

 

What happens when you buy a new Camaro or new Mustang or anything new?? You lose value. Paying $20,000 for a car that stickered for over $30,000 with almost no mileage is smart and reduces the downward spiral. You keep the 2002 SS for 5 years and put on 40,000 miles or so you will still probably get $10,000 for it, if it wasn't abused. That isn't much of a hit at $2,000 per year. You can't put 40,000 miles on a new 2012 Camaro and expect to lose only $10,000 on it after 5 years. It will be much worse. Age is almost meaningless for these LS1 F-bodies if kept in a climate controlled garage. It really depends on what the buyer wants. I personally love the idea of getting a 'new' sub 10,000 miles 2002 F-body for $20,000, especially when these new beasts get closer and closer to the $40,000 neighborhood.

 

Yeah like i said it's just a personal thing. I'm the type of guy that drives the sh*t out of my cars. I'd personally loose way to much buying a low mileage car. Plus i'd be so afraid to park it anywhere, etc.
