2000 NBM WS6, 69k, M6 Hey guys, I'm interested in a car, it's a 2000 WS6, with 69k on the clock. Car drives well, exterior is in good shape, no dents or major imperfections. Interior has a crack on the passenger dash and driver door has a small crack. Only issue is the shift from 5 to 6 grinds slightly. It's been like this for 3 yrs, last 5000 miles when he first got the car. All in all, good condition accept for 5-6 gear shift.

How many owners? Clean title? If all is good, book value is around $10,500. Transmission issue sounds like a synchro problem. Your best bet would be to call around to a couple local transmission repair shops and get an estimate. How old is the clutch? It might be a good idea to consider replacing it while the transmission is out.
Remember, it is a total buyer's market right now and getting to be a bad time of year to sell a car like that, which means you have all the leverage. I have been regularly seeing really good deals on these cars for the past couple of months, so do not be afraid to walk away. If you have the cash and the patience, you will find a great deal. The 2000 WS6 you describe would be considered in FAIR overall condition, certainly not 'good'. The eventual headlight repair will be a $300 repair at a dealership if you can't do it yourself. The tranny repair is going to be much higher. Do we know if the Carfax is problem free? How many owners has this WS6 had? Absolute top $$$ for this car should be around $10,000. It would be much better if around $9,000 - $9,500 due to the money needed right away for repairs. Let's just say you did go $10k for it and all the repairs amount to $1,000. If you have $11,000 total into the car you will be all set to go at a half decent price provided there aren't more issues. Anything over that would be just too much to lay out initially. I sure wouldn't pay anything close to that if there are Carfax problems, or the seller is owner #5 or worse. That's just too much swapping hands and potential abuse, plus no record whatsoever of maintenance. Good luck!

I'm going to wait for a better deal. When I talked to the owner, it sounded like he just added gas and changed oil. He didn't know the last time the tranny fluid, diff fluid, spark plugs were changed. Clutch is original and I had pry out the synchro problem from him. 9k was my offer before the tranny issue. 4 owner car, I'm going to be patient. There are a few 01 and 02's I'm looking at for $9000. Yes, 4 owners, 1st owner 6 years and the other 3 for 2 years each. I'm going to have to buy something with a little more miles, I will be spending more than I have budgeted for. I'm positive, for those who are also looking for a WS6, that you can get this guy down to 8500.

I think you can spend a little more and get a car with less miles. For example, a 2002 T/A WS6 with 24,000 miles on it just came up for sale near me with an asking price of $14,000 or best offer. That might be a little out of your range but I guarantee you will find a smoking deal if you wait for it. Also, do not be afraid to expand your search area and be willing to make a day trip if necessary.
