Buying a 2002 WS6
I am about to buy a black 2002 WS6 - 6 speed manual with 23K miles on the clock.
car seems in very good condition as the current owner drives in couple of times a month.
It has Kooks long tube headers and exhaust system which sound awesome. I have not heard of this brand before, are they good?
the left headlight motor makes a ghrrrrr sound when closing down. Do I need to worry about it? It opens and closes fine but just has this voice for around 10 seconds after turning off.
Just that I am not overpaying for it. How much is this car worth?
thanks a lot.
A one or two owner, low mileage, 6 speed 2002 WS6 should bring decent $$ for the seller but the exhaust will actually limit his buyer's market. Some will love the exhaust (you) while others will frown (me). You get the picture, and it works in your favor at negotiation time.
You should be in the $16,000 area with that headlight issue. If the WS6 needs other things, like a new set of $800 tires, then less. Sounds like a nice find. Hope the price is agreeable for you. Did you check the Carfax and verify everything, like the mileage and clean title??
Kooks are very nice headers....but does it have cats on it still? If not that is a big issue because it really limits the people that can buy it. If it had stock exhaust it would be a $18,000 or close to it. The exhaust really hurts that car. If it was a 80K mile car it wouldn't be a be a big deal.

He is also giving me the stock exhaust.
Car has american racing wheels but also he will give the stock wheels including in the deal.
And buy a new one!!!! i just tore down my headlights, and to my surprise what was grinding on the drivers was one of the 80$ metal gears.
Kooks makes good products.
These cars hold up exceptionally well (as long as they were taken care of) an 02 with 23k is barely broken in.
I agree with the above posters, I'd say about 15-16 is fair being that the stock parts are still there.
As others have said, headlight motor is an easy fix (I've done it a few times on my T/A, just part of the deal when you get an older car with flip up headlights) and can be overlooked as far as a real "problem".
Kooks makes some of the most high quality exhaust products for our cars. Headers alone are going to be in the $1000 range, so that is definitely a bonus. If the car is not tuned already I would highly recommend it (around $500 depending on where you go).
Considering the mileage, I would agree with everyone else in that the car should be priced somewhere around the $16K range.
Good luck, and make sure to post up pics if you end up purchasing it!
