Default Need some advice on a 1997 Comp T/A

Need to sell my 97 Comp T/A and have been out of the "loop" for so long I'm a little unsure where to start. I read the sticky about pricing cars but am a little foggy on what values to use for the minor mods and things it would need. For example, the A/C doesn't work and neither does the CD changer.

It is car #139 built in 1997 and been in VA ever since. It is a T-top 6 speed with 4.10 gears. It was originally owned by Ken C, who some of the old timers may remember, and then on to me many years ago.

It has around 60K on the clock. Car is in good condition and looks great. Has new BFG tires, outer tie rods ends and subsequent alignment. Car has minor mods like the LT4 HotCam kit with the heavy duty timing chain and Crane 1.6 Self aligning rollers, Holley TB, Exhaust changed to the SLP loudmouth, suspension pieces such as panhard, LCAs, STB. Has the Bilstein shock setup. Have an extra appearance package to include all decals and set of front floor mats. Would include my outdoor and indoor covers.

Looks great and drives great. Real rare car as most of you know. I just need some help finding her a good new home. Any potential interest please email me. There are more details for sure but wanted to at least get this started and see what comes up.

It came from SLP with everything but Torsen and R1 tires and lubes. 47 were made in 1997, with 40 being T-top of which 25 were MN6 and then the suspension which takes it to a 1 of 15 for 1997.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I want this car to continue the storied life it's had and end up in another good home where she will be appreciated. Thanks

Not much help but I remember Ken from way back on the old SLP board and how meticulous he was with that car. GLWTS

Thanks Tall Guy. I figured there would still be some around who remember Ken and the car. I was just as meticulous for awhile but lately she has just been sitting with the occasional outing just to keep her fresh.

I'd keep her if I were you, it's hard to find a clean LT1, especially one this rare and well taken care of

I agree and have been holding on for awhile now. Just kills me to see her sit. I still have my 'ol 95Z as well which is the first car I ever bought and will become a LS project at some point. She doesn't quite look like she once did at this point. Hasn't been turned over in quite some time. Eventually will get towed to FBC and come back ALIVE!!

These type cars are tough to price and even tougher to sell once the mileage gets 'up there' even when considered rare. While 60k miles is next to nothing as far as the life of the car, it is considered high miles for a 'collector' that would pay big $$. My suggestion is to price high at first and see if you get any bites. You can always lower the price later. I'm talking Hemmings or Autotrader to start with, and at about $14,000 - $15,000. Mecum has had two 1995 Firehawks w/ much lower miles get bids in the $15,000 range. That's why I am using that price as a ref point. They are unusual, rather rare rides but if they had 60k miles on them, bids would have been quite a bit lower. Honestly I'm not sure you could get $12k for your car but there is no harm in trying, right? You never know who is looking or how much they desire one. That's why you start on the high side.
Here are two old links that might give you an idea as well. They don't sell easily. Best of luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks for your input NC01TA. Very helpful and a lot of the same thoughts I had been having. I appreciate the old links as well. I haven't been able to find one selling in quite some time.

The mods don't bother me all that much on a 60K mile car. They would be a lot more hurtful of value if it were <30K miles. I wouldn't subtract anything for the mods. Figure -$600 for the A/C and CD changer.

Since these are so hard to find what else could it be compared to from that same era? How about a 1997 Firehawk, 1997 WS6 1LE formula, or the 1997 Camaro SS anniv car (white + orange stripes). Another car that to me is comparable is the 1999 anniv WS6. While that's an LS-1, figure that car is just as desirable, if not more so. You can probably find some 50K-70K mile anniv cars for comparison. Those would be in the $14K-$16K range as coupes. Another way to do it is to add in 50% of the original Comp T/A option price to a 1997 WS6 or Firehawk, etc. Another method I've used is to take the original price of the car and figure 50% of that today for a clean 10K mile car...minus $5K for the extra miles. No hard and fast rules but some approximations to try and get you in the ball park.

Here's a 1997 WS6 with 22K miles posted 2 days ago for $12,500. I'm not all the in tune with the values and features of the Comp TA, but this WS6 seems like a comparable car to me since it has 40K less miles.
