Looking for a new toy....
Hey y'all. I'm new to the forum, but I've been in the market for a new toy and stumbled upon a near mint condition 2000 WS6. It has 18000 miles on it, all original, garage kept, and rarely seen weather. The asking price is $18,000. Anyone feel like offering any advice on the price, fair or un-fair. Thanks a lot.

one thing ive noticed is people are asking more than i think these lower mileage ones are worth. id say a fair price for it would be 16,000. 18000 is a bit high. is this car m6?

No need to be unpleasant, especially since this sort of thread doesn't belong in the intro section anyway. For best responses, threads should be properly placed. We have a specific section for "What's it Worth" questions such as this, and I'm moving this thread to that section now.

$18K is off the mark unless the car is something special like a WS6 Formula coupe. And even then I don't think that's a great price. Fwiw my local dealer had a mint, black, 1 owner, 2000 WS6 M6 with 14K miles for sale 3-1/2 years ago. It could have been bought for $16,500. These cars might be holding their values ok, but they aren't going up $500 every year.
$18K might work for a 2002 or a 2001 M6. Figure 8-12% less for an automatic. Sounds like a 1 or 2 owner car. After that it drops off in price. I'd figure an 18K mile M6 at $16K and the A4 at $14K-$15K. Original tires would be 15 years old and cost you a min of $550 to swap out. Factor in potential fluid changes too ($300-$500) if most of them are original fluids (happens more often than you'd think, especially for a M6). Cracked inside door panels? That's pretty common. A plus if they aren't cracked yet. By fully original that would mean no aftermarket air lid, a stock "crooked" shifter (M6 only), orig day 1 tires, original exhaust, etc. They are getting hard to find like that.

I agree with Firebrian. If the seller is indeed asking $18k then you have room for negotiation down into the $15k range. If the seller is too close to $18k or won't sell under $17k, time to move on. Too much!
Just some advice, holiday weekends can be slow on the forums. You also need to provide as many details as possible. We don't know if the Carfax is clean, how many owners, maintenance history, original tires on the car, etc... All are things that affect pricing if you want accuracy, which I'm sure you do. I doubt anyone wants to pay top $$ for a car that needs tires and fluid changes like mentioned above (15 years means every single fluid should have been changed by now except maybe the tranny if an auto).
We are glad to help out but get us as much info as possible so we can do it right and not mislead you.
