Default 02 z28 55K

Hello all,
I am looking to make an offer on a red 2002 35th anniversary z28 with 55k miles on it. Its an A4. T-tops. Bone stock except for C5 wheels. Going to drive it tomorrow. Looks extremely clean with all leather interior. Is $8,000 a complete low ball offer or do you think that is a good starting place to negotiate?

KBB puts it around $9.5K if I recall.

Thoughts?

In all honesty, your price at 8k is also where I would be myself. At this time of the year, selling and getting top dollar is rather challenging. Take cash money with you and in full as cash is king and may just be enough for the seller to say OK...😀.

It's not a 2002 anniversary model unless it's the Limited Edition SS with red and special stripes/graphics. It's just a regular 2002 Z28 in red. No extra premium despite if being made in the 30th anniversary year. KBB is totally out to lunch with how they price the 2002 LE Anniv models (ie an A4 ANNIV model with 55K miles would be $10,400, which is what you get if you don't also select the "SS" block as well).

I'd agree that that $8K (fair) to $10K (excellent) would be a reasonable price for this car. If very clean, well serviced, well-documented, and 1-2 owners it's probably in the $9's. KBB is a $9800 for a very good conditioned A4. They do not give a premium for an M6 which is bs. $8K is sort of low ball, even for winter. But, if you live in an area that gets a real winter with frequent snow, then this about the last chance for the owner to sell the car....meaning, it sits until late March/April. Best deal I've seen on an A4 in my area was a fairly clean 2001 SS with 65K miles at $6500 a couple years ago. Comes down to how desperate they are to sell. If it's newly advertised, they just might be willing to wait until next summer.

Just as a follow up I got the car with 35th Anniversary 17" SS wheels for $8600.

Also, how is it not a 35th anniversary car? I literally has 35th anniversary on the dash. I know it is not the special edition with the stripe package, but is a 35th not a 35th regardless? Just wondering. Thanks for all the input.

Yes, it is an anniversary car, but every 2002 Camaro is a "35th Anniversary" car; there is nothing special about the plaque on the dash as you will find it on all regular 2002 model Camaros. To call a regular 2002 Camaro a "35th Anniversary car" is simply redundant and a bit confusing to most, as this term is usually only used to describe one that's a Limited Edition (LE) 35th package (SS only - stripes/graphics, wheels, etc.) as mentioned by Firebrian above.

Same can be said for 1997 Camaro or 1999 Trans Am; they are all 30th Anniversary respectively, but nobody refers to them this way unless they are of the specially designated anniversary package of their respective year.

$8600 is a fair enough price imo. It's a 2002 with a plaque. I don't know how many ads I start reading where someone says 2002 35th anniversary car for sale where the price seems a bit cheap for an LE....and then looking further into it, you find out it's invariably not an LE. I agree with RPM WS6....confusing and redundant. I've never seen anyone call a 1999 Firebird a 30th anniversary unless it was the special white/blue package with blue stripes. Same comment for 2001 Firehawk anniversary car (black with gold stripes and gold wheels).

Sounds like you did well BJJDoc. Expect to put a few $$ into it as every 'used' car needs something. It's no big deal as long as it isn't major. Enjoy the ownership experience.
I agree with everyone about the 35th anniversary part too. It should be limited to the LE cars, not all. Besides GM, Ford had their 2004 Mustangs listed as 40th anniversary cars, even the 6 cylinder cars came with a badge. You can't refer to thousands and thousand of 2004 Mustangs as special 40th anniversary cars. There is nothing special about them.
