You are smart! You have a real good one there. Just a matter of time and if you enjoy the car in the meantime it is a 'win win' situation.

Tell him to.. DRIVE IT
There isn't much more I despise than when I see "Camaro SS 2K miles!!" I hate when people buy the car, then INSTANTLY put it away. I'm not talking about an every weekend driver, I mean the people that buy them and put them in a storage facility and never ever touch them. It's a waste of a good car. Plus it'sa Z28, which is why I stated this opinion..

Drive that thing! The only ones that are really going to be worth anything are probably the anniversary editions or ones with extra rare options. A base '00 Z28? Have fun with it...

x2, usually anything that is going to be worth money will have far less miles than 30K +. Best chances are a first run or last run, speciality edition or limited production model and bone stock in good condition. Buying a car and putting it in a "bag" is the best thing to do if you want to preserve its value, assuming it fits the criteria I mentioned - I think it sucks, but that is what collectors want and what makes a old car special.

Anything can happen, and our cars could be worth more money in the future, but if you look at cars that fetch a high dollar amount they usually fit the criteria I listed above.

the cars of the 60's,70's and early 80's look different than the cars of recent. chrome bumpers, thick well made vinyl.leather interiors, no electronics, many different options among individual cars, etc. cars of recent are cookie cutter thus unless a really low production number will just have a normal value.

There is a 2002 Z28 with 2,307 miles on it for $26,995.

Somebody paid around $33,000 (maybe more)? Stored it for 7 years and are trying to sell it for a $6,000 loss.

Everyone should remember that 20 years from now a 00' camaro will be 30 years old and that 98-02 camaros were a rather low production not to mention the hole from 03-09. Also consider that 25-35 year old camaros right now (74-84) were all slow and except for a couple of years were fugly. I think 4th gen F-bodys have the best chance to be collectors since the 70-73 2nd gen's.

What about the 3rd gens? Those were instant classics right from the showroom floor.

Yea im guna go with dirve it till it breaks, fix it, and drive it some more. If he wants a collecores car, buy a hess truck, not a camaro. I have a 99 Z28 that i bought 3 years ago when i was in highschool that had 35k on it. Now it has 52k on it cuz i basically drive it to the track and back.... thats ten years old now half way to twenty, and its really not worth a thing comparativly speaking. Again buy a Hess truck, that might b worth some money in twenty years.

i think they will stay the same or lose value. my friend (SKz28) is really into 3rd gen camaros and said that supposedly those are JUST startinmg to increase in value. so IMO for 4th gen f-bodies to be worth anything itll take upwards of 30-40 years. however things are worth what people will pay for them if you can find someone who wants it bad enough
