What tire size, or sizes are you looking for?
How wide are the wheels?

I highly recommend the Sumitomo HTR Z III (not the II's). Check with NTB, Merchants Tire, or Tire Kingdom. They can beat TRacks prices if they want as Sumitomo has interest in those stores.

I used to sell tires, the Rikens are a private label of Michelin and pretty good, Kumho makes some decent ones, my favorite bang for buck that I have abused the **** out of myself have been the Toyo Proxxes 4, if they dont make them in that size the T1R is a good tire but more than Proxxes 4.

If you want BFG's go with the BFG Sport, have them on my original wheels for my camaro, just took a set off my girlfriends car, and had a set on my turbo integra, good tires, grip well and cut water really good for a summer tire.

Also bang for buck tire that has done really good for some of my friends are the falken FK452's those usually arent too expensive.

I worked for a BFG dealer and saw the prices on the KD, KDW, KDWS, they were all too expensive. And in my experience once you start making a certaing amount of power a street tire is a street tire, they are all going to spin so I like to choose one I dont feel bad about thrashing and will cut water well for when its wet.

My BFG Sports did real good in the rain, better than the toyo's but I could almost buy two sets of BFG's for one set of Toyo's, that was in the turbo teg, and every street tire went up in smoke on that car just the same as any other.

I think Nitto makes some cheapish tires that hook decently for your rear wheels. I want to say they're Invo's? The tread looks pretty cool too.

Not sure about your front size.. Sometimes it's worth it to spend that extra $40 to get a quieter ride, better traction (wet/dry), and less visits for a rebalance (I've had to rebalance my front Sumitomo's twice in ~4k miles, lol)

FYI, you'll have a lot better tire choice in a 285/35/18, than a 284/40/18.

That also makes them cheaper, the more common a size.

Rikens don't compare to the new Sumitomo HTRZ III's. A friend of mine can't even get close to hooking on Riken's 275/40/17's with a bone stock Formula. I do better on my Rikens because they're 16's. If I get 17's the Sumi's will be on them. A good friend bought the Sumi 3's for his 00 SS Z28 and was blown away. They were $100 each.

I work at tire kingdom on east colonial in orlando

i got the sumi HTRz IIIs..there really good and grip but they are a soft tire..done only bout 3 lil burnouts on them in the last 2 months and have like 7/32s out of 10
all the customers love them..never said anything bad about them

i suggest them or Falken 452s or Yoko ES100s

off the top of my head i think
Sumi's are $119
Falkens are $115
yokos are $145

had the HTR IIs before and they suck just spin and spin

Riken Raptors sidewalls are to thin..one hit on anything and u get a huge bubble or a "pregnancy bulge"

Mine are all seasons but my continental contiextremecontacts have worked out great for me when I had them on my stock 16s when I bought the the car and then after I got 18s I got another set. They are a harder tire but they hook relatively well for the 400 tread rating.

I'm curious... Would rotating directional tires side to side (dismount/remount) help with tire life and cupping? Or would the gains be negligible if you just get an alignment every oil change?
