Default opinions on 555Rs

i just placed an order for 4 tires. 2 Nitto 555s for the front and 2 555Rs for the back. 275-40-17. im just kinda curious, what kinda 60 fts will i be looking at with these tires? they're on zr1 and the car should weigh ~3650 with me in it. 4.10 gears, ~350rwhp

I had the nittos on my stock rims for a while they were great on the street but was not happy with them on the track. best 60 was a 2.05 but it was consistant 2.1 just spun a lot at the track even after heating the tires up. on MT et streets i was cutting 1.5 - 1.6 all day. this was when my car 3700 with me in it and had about the same power as you. but with 373 gears. i now have 315/35/17 on my TTII and like i said love them on the street but have not had a chance to take them on the track. probably will not considering i have draglites now. but i might just to see what they would do.

I never ran mine but I'd say 1.9's are doable on stock suspension. Low 1.9's with SFCs and LCAs.

They aren't great but they're better than street tires.

They are great for a DD car, but any weekend car or track car do something like a BFG or the best shot is a MT.
My truck never hooked on nittos.....

I was cutting high 1.6's low 1.7's in my old 02 Z28 when it had the stalled A4 in it, with the M6 i could only muster some 1.8's. Not sure how they hook on my 98 at the track b/c i run m/t's.

I have nothing but good things to say about the 555Rs. I ran the time in my sig on 245 16" 555Rs with lots of 1.6's, although track prep was outta this world that day. I ran 315 for 9 months did lots of highway driving rain and shine, commuting, and occasional drag strip visits. Lots of 1.7's with those. Here is a video with 315 555Rs on the street with a small burnout- I can't imagine them hooking much better. Def need a small burnout to hook or else they'll spin for a bit then grab and bog you down.

I bought them new and I would surely buy them again if I need a tire that can be driven on every single day and not worry about rain. They held nicely in turns too since they have the same compound as the road race tires, just with softer sidewalls.

I also ran ~25 psi on the street and had even treadwear. People tend to run too much pressure and you always see their pictures with the middles worn out and sides having deep tread. Had good results with 16-19psi at track.

the only way i can guess that theres this much of a difference in 60ft is if people might be confusing the 555s with the 555rs. i have 555s now and i cut 2.0-2.1. they arent even r's

On a bone stock motor I ran 1.9s with 0 spin with Nittos. Ive had both Nittos and the BFGs. I hated the BFGs compared to the Nittos both hooked up the same at the track but the BFGs just sucked on the street and wore out in 1/10th the time it takes the Nittos to wear out.

I love the nitto's.I used to cut low 1.8's and high 1.7's on the regular 555's.
