Also, can you compare the NT05, NT05R and the 555R?

I know the R's are DR's, but i'm on my second set of 555R's and LOVE THEM!! Now, I want NT05R's, but they dont come in a size I want/need.

How close are the 555R's to the NT05's? I'm sure the NT05R's blow them both away, but I live in Los Angeles so I daily drive my car year round and in the rain too.

My 555R's are fine in the rain, but I want a stickier tire for the dry days I'm driving. Looks like the NT05's might be that tire..... slightly better grip than the 555R, but not quite the 05R. Am I right?

Thats my understanding, and that the 05's have a stiffer sidewall then 05R's. I have a 295/45 and 4.11's and hook pretty well on the street

Below are the links with our current mail order prices on the NT05 in the two sizes you requested. Shipping and sales tax is FREE to CA. If you have found a competitor with a cheaper advertised out the door price give us a call at 1.888.459.4080 and anyone of our sales agents will beat it

285/35-18 NT05: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...%2FPerformance

295/35-18 NT05: http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...%2FPerformance

The NT05 is geared for auto-x and aggressive driving of the like. The sidewalls are stiffer when compared to a drag radial for enhanced steering response. The NT05R D/R utilizes softer rubber compounding and an updated semi-radial internal construction to compete with the M/T ET Street Radial. The compounding is softer than the NT555R D/R so you can expect about half the life out of the NT05R when compared to the NT555R.

I see a lot of rain where I live, and have been using the
Cooper Zeon 2XS tires because they were cheaper than the
GS-D3s and my favorite tire store couldn't get BFG KDWs in
the size I want (285/40R17). They have tolerable dry traction,
corner well, good wet until the water gets too deep. I call
them roughly equal to the GS-D3s.

Any direct comparison to these Coopers?

I'm on another set of fresh NT05's... 315's in the rear & 275 in the front.
Last week I drove from Milw, WI to Road Atlanta in for the Petit LeMans and both going and coming home I drove the Tail of the Dragon in TN/NC and wasn't easy on the car since I've done this before. The tires were OUTSTANDING once again. They even did surperb in a heavy rainstorm on the freeway. 1,950 miles on them in 7 days and looking forward to many more!

I checked with my other local tire shop with AMAZING prices and you blew them out of the water with price shipped!! (since it was free) Just ordered my 2 NT05 in 285-35-18's.

Now, can you compare the NT05's to a 555R in terms of softness and wear? I loved my 555R's and they've lasted about 17k with only one track day (3 runs). Basically I'm hoping for a great street tire that doesn't break loose on right turns with cops sitting on every corner in LA, lol.

I see there was a camera mounted on the car... I'm gonna say we need to see the video of that or I'm going to believe it never happened . But seriously, I bet that was amazing.

The NT05 has a little harder compound when compared to the NT555R and typically lasts anywhere from 20K to 25K miles when taken care of. From what you have described in your posts I think you'll be happy with the NT05.

SO does the 555RII have more grip?

Getting a spare set of rims and tires for autocross next season. they will be 315/35/17 on all 4 corners. I'm debating on NT01 and 05. Which would be more suitable?
