Default Nitto 555RII question & ZR1 Wheel Question.....

I am investigating getting the Black ZR1 knock off's and the Nitto 555RII's 315 x 17" tires. I want the 9" ZR1 rims up front (with a 285 x 555 tire) and the ZR1 11" out back with a 315 555RII tire.

1. I found the ZR1 knock off's for about $1,000, how much for the OEM's and do they weigh significantly less than the knock off's? Who has the best prices?

2. Does someone sell the Nitto 555RII in a 315 x 17" size? I can't find them anywhere.

Thanks
Brian

1. AFS is popular, they are on ebay alot.

2. The 555RII's just came out in 315. TByrne has them.

If you're wanting the II's, I'm guessing you autox or road race. If so, you should go 17x11 all around. They fit easier in front than the rear. Either way, make sure you get the 50mm "Grand Sport" offset on the 17x11's otherwise they stick out too much.

That's basically what I run on my car (mine are chrome). I have pitures of my car on my website.

www.discounttiredirect.com has the best prices I've seen on both the 555's for the front and 555R's for the back.

If you do go with AFS, go for the ZR1's 17x9.5 and 17x11's (+38/36.5mm). They are specifically designed (offset) for the Firebirds.

Stop the bus... LOL dmtnt say use the 50mm offset and to run the 11" all around, WILWAXU says use the 9.5" and 11" +38/36.5mm offset. From the research I have done it seems that the 11" 50mm offset rims would make the tire sit further inside the wheel well causing you to grind the bump stops and the 38mm offset will have the tire sticking out beyond the fender?????

HELP!!!!

Thanks

Brian

You won't have to shave the bump stops if you jack up the car by the rear, but you may have to hammer the inner fenderwell. With 36.5mm, you may have to roll the fender lip. IMO, the 36.5mm sticks out too far. The 50mm looks almost factory. Either way, the back will take a little work to fit. Again, if you auto-x or RR, 11's all around will definitely improve your times.

IMHO the 50 mm look better. Yes the inner wheel well may need some "massaging" but it will be

Ether offset will work.

The chrome ones are my second set of AFS 38/36.5's. Both sets worked great and fit exactly flush with the fenders and required nothing more than a lug wrench and a jack to be put on.

No one that's seen my car in person thinks the rims stick out at all. Unfortunitly, the pictures on my website and the fact that my car isn't lowered makes it hard to see that.

Here's a picture from the top of the fender:

The bottle shape of the rear of our cars help show more meat from the rear, but the front leading edge is exact flush with the fender.

I run 275/40 17 555's in the front, and 315/35 17 555R's in the back without any rubbing.

Thanks for all the replies guy's!!! I am looking at buying off of E-Bay and the off set is 50mm so I don't really have a choice. I will slap them on and see what the deal is when I get them.
