Default Learn from my mistake

I purchase blemished wheels from SLP. They were supposed to be slight visual defects and minor flaking. I thought that they would be a good winter wheel. The photo description for them was not that bad. So I bought them for $380 set shipped. Turns out they are boat anchors. Worst wheels I have ever seen. $380 in the trash. They will not take them back. If its too good to be true then it probably is. Take a look.

Bad deal . . . Come on FOUR wheels for $380 SHIPPED!

Yes they look like crap, but what do you expect? New those wheels sold for $1,000 PLUS shipping. I'd say it cost close to $100 to ship, so the wheels cost $280 nearly 1/4 the original price.

Perfect winter crap wheels, or POS drag wheels.

Sorry you feel you got ripped. They can always be refinished too . . . .

Anyway, again sorry and this is just my opinion . . .

so whats wrong with em? lol i guess im not all that into appearance but they didnt look THAT bad especially for 75 percent off. you DID want them as winter wheels right? as long as they arent bent or anything, looks are irrelevant for wheels that are supposed to take the abuse you dont want your good wheels taking.

You could have them re-chromed and still be under the price for new ones.

Never buy a blemished CHROME wheel without expecting to have them redone.

There's a reason SLP discounts blems that much.
On their site, they clearly grade the rims on 3 scales... NN (nearly new) B1 (slight blems) or B2 (pretty bad).
Judging by the price you paid and the looks of them, I'd guess they are B2.

But I'd say for winter wheels, they're fine!

Or they'd make excellent 'leaving my car at the shop for 6-8 weeks while getting ________ installed' wheels. Nobody would steal 'em.

I have a set of 17" Speedline wheels that were blems, for that specific purpose. Car going to the shop for a while? Take off the Bogarts, put on the junkers. Done it a few times here lately...

No. They are the B1's. Look at the example I have of theirs. Its the last pic of the bunch. The pic is supposed to be the worst case scenario. They should have pics of the wheels I got as the worst case scenario. But oh well. as long as you guys dont make the same mistake.

Some wheel shops will refinish them and unless they are cracked or something, you could get them sanded & polished for about 75/wheel. Will be as good as new.

The cheapest qoute I got to rechrome them was $130 a wheel. You know of a place that can sand and polish? I would be interested.

Yikes. They're definitely worse than how B1s should be. That sucks.
Well, if you get then re-done, you'll probably still come in under the new price.

First off, SLP sucks. Terrible. Sorry to see you got ripped like that.

Secondly, strip em, paint them, polish them, powdercoat them, chrome them, whatever. They'll be fine, and you'll probably still have paid less than full cost.

I can't believe you guys are bitching about a $380 set of aluminum 17in wheels. That were already advertised as Blems................ As long as they are true and balance whats the problem. Especially chrome, I am not exactly understanding what you were expecting.

Take a look at the last photo. It is a B1 worst case scenario. That picture came from SLP as an example of the worst quality wheel. Are you saying that it doesnt matter that they lie about what they are selling? Its so cheap I should expect to get ripped off? Would you sell those wheels to someone without telling them that they look like they sat on the bottom of the ocean? Do you want to buy them off me? I didn't think so. Do you understand now? The main reason on why I posted this is so you guys dont make the same mistake. How many of you guys that support SLP want to buy these off me? I didn't think so.

Look, I have a spare pair of rims, used, I paid $250 for 2 of them. They were not perfect, had small scratches, some small blemishes here and there. I use them for drag wheels. You are complaining about 4 wheels shipped to your door for $380, at least $50 is shipping cost alone. I cannot see any justifcation for your disatisfaction for a set of belmished wheels, I don't care what rating they were, they were still advertised as blemished. If you wanted a semi show quality wheel and thought you were going to get lucky with some light problems, then your not very smart. Those wheels are not that bad, and of all the dumbest things, you wanted chrome. Why the hell would you pay for chrome if they were just a spare pair? It's obviuose to me that you wanted them more for appearance than a spare pair of wheels. I do not support SLP all the way, but they do sell some good products, and they offer spare parts very cheap. The bottom line is they are used spare parts. Example I got the take off shocks and struts, I am not up here bitching up a storm because I paid $67 shipped for these things and one of them didn't come with the spring perch. Common sense prevails, I will use the old one, the struts alone would have cost me in the $250 area.
