Default Best Street Tire

Hi i am a 2000z28 camaro and i need to buy some new tires. I really dont have alot of experience with tires so i want to know what is the best street tire for regular driving, wet driving and maybe one pass at the track. I will need to keep the size 245/50/16.

also im cheap so i really dont want no $300 tire lol

Goodyear F1 Gs D3's. With 99% of your driving on the street this is a fantastic tire for wet and dry traction.

He just said he doesnt wanna spend alot.. why would you suggest fricken goodyears. Look for riken raptors in that size for cheapness, they run about $80 a pop and they hook.. decently I thought otherwise but alot of people like them. If you wanna go higher go for bfg gforce tires, they're VERY good tires but a little more pricey.

You should be able to get some Firestone Wideovals for about $115 each, just haggle with a Firestone store. Great reviews by owners with Vettes/fbody's on Tire rack. I bought my Riken Raptors about two years ago from a hookup for $58 each. Now they're quite a lot more, so I will be stepping into either the Firestones or BFG Gforce sports in 255/50/16's.

You said you wanted to be able to get traction, so forget the kumhos. I have had the 245/50/16 and now I have some in 275/40/17 and neither have hooked worth a **** and the kumhos on my car now are almost brand new. Falken ziex ze 512 255/50/16 hook well until you do a few good smokey burnouts. BFG is a pretty good tire, or a nitto.

You get what you pay for and they sure aren't $300 per tire. He's not going to be happy with the Riken, for what he describes he will hate the Riken. You can forget taking them to the track because they just can't hang and for wet traction on a full bodied camero you need a sturdier tire. I will not recommend sticking any entry level performance tire with a z28. The car will just eat it up and you'll end up spending more money on a replacement set before you know it.

I would rather suggest a tire he's going to love than make a suggestion he's going to hate. Even if it does cost more upfront. The BFG you suggest may be a decent tire for what he's looking for but the GS-D3 is the best in my opinion.

I just ran a 1.99 60ft with my Rikens, well prepped track makes all the difference.

Well its like this, he said he wanted cheap tires, you cant get cheap tires that hook period.

Cheap:
Riken raptors, kuhmos, firehawk stuff those tires will be cheap $80-$120 a tire, the rikens will probably hook the best out of those 3.

Higher price:
Bfg gforces, goodyears g3's all that kinda stuff, thats usually around $150-$200+ a tire, they will hook the best but then again your paying more. So you decide what your looking for.
