I've narrowed down my choice of front runners based on price and weight. The Drag Special I'm looking at is a 2-ply, 25.25" in diameter, has 3.5" of tread, and weighs 10 lbs. The DS-2 is a 4-ply, 26" in diameter, has 4.5" of tread, and weighs 12 lbs. They will not be driven to and from the track. My car is almost full weight, I've just removed my AC system and front sway bar. I'm currently using a 25.6" rear tire (25.6" when new anyway, they're pretty worn down now). What would be the pros and cons of each?

We use the DS2's on our cars and have had no issues. They look more modern than the old school Drag Specials, but both are good tires.

OK, I just picked up a pair of the 2-ply Drag Specials. Will these be OK for my full-weight car if I only use them on the dragstrip? Or should they only be used for lightweight (<3000 lb) cars?

My buddy ran them on a ~3500# BBC '67 Camaro w/ iron heads, so they should be ok on a race-only car.
