I have 295/30-19s and 305/30-19s on four C6 19x10s (Michelin PS2s, going on all four corners). They both fit the 10" wide rim with no issues, no trouble or concerns from the guys that mounted/balanced them, and they look good on the rims. But I did loose some of the tire's advertised width...
the 295s now measure about 11.5" wide (they are spec'd on a 10.5" wheel with a section/overall width of 11.9").
the 305s now measure about 11.7" wide (they are spec'd on a 11" wheel with a section/overall width of 12.3").
They are almost the same height, so close that you can't tell with the two standing next to each other.
So you are not really gaining much tire width with a 305. However, with these PS2s, you get a good amount of 'rim protector'. I can't imagine ever being able to scrape the rim with those 305s on the rears.
I went this route for several reasons...
I wanted the taller 19s for ride quality, I wanted to have a decent selection of USED Michelin PS2s (both sizes are OEM on rear of Porsches, usually 10-15 active auctions on eBay), and I simply wanted a wide tire for an aggressive stance (silver Formula, kinda plain looking).
I test fitted the 305 rears with a 1.25" spacer/adapter, which would have worked fine, but decided on a more aggressive look and re-ordered my rear spacers in 1.50".
