Default 28" tire for 17x11" rim?

Is there anything available besides the 325/45/17 M&H? Those things are so skinny I think they'd look retarded on a 11" rim.

U could try a 295/45/17 Mt DR. only around 27'' but they are probably wider than the M&H tires.

M&H makes a 390/40/17 dr. the specs say it is 29.5" tall + 12.3" tread + 14.3" section width. if it is as over rated size wise as the 325 is, it would probably be a darn good fit. and would look wicked on a set of 17x11 streetlites with the 17x4's up front when they become available. I just don't have the extra cash laying around to try it.

awwww hell, enough bfh will make just about anything fit. a set of those tires on a set of 17x11's with a 4.5" back and 4" knocked out of each side of the rear would look absolutely wicked. if I had the wheels and tires I can guaran-damn-tee you that I could make them fit. I have a sawzall, cutting torch and a welder that I am not the least bit afraid to use.

These would be for my street wheels, and I've already got 315 BFG's on them....the 25.6" height is just too short with the new motor and uber low hanging exhaust! My 15x10's with 325/50/15 MT's are perfect for the car.....I just dont want to run my polished alum track wheels all the time now as I despise keeping up with polished wheels. I may just end up selling the zr1's/tires and having my track wheels chromed if the tire I want for the 17's doesn't exist. That 390 MH would be sweet, just a little too tall.

Jeff, I'm selling my 325/45R17's. If you want you can mount one up on a 17x11 and just see how you like them. Then if you do like them I'll sell them to you!

I'd say go with the MT 295/45's. They're a great balance of looks, sidewall height and hookage.

M&H 325/45/17 on 17x9 vs MT 295/45/17 on 17x11

cdubbzz:

Do you have any more pics of the MT 295/45 on the 17x11 rim? I'd like to see them on the car from a side view if possible and also off the car from the back.

Few questions for ya:

1. How much more narrow are they than the 315/35s?

2. How much more taller are they than the 315/35s?

3. Do they hook as well, better or worse? I would think that the sidewall would allow for much more weight transfer and allow them to hook better.

4. Did the extra sidewall height hurt cornering ability? I don't mind a little bodyroll but I don't want squealing taking a corner too hard.

5. Because of the extra sidewall, did the ride quality increase on rough roads?

6. What springs do you have on the front and rear of the car?

I really appreciate any feedback you can provide on this.

On a side note, is it true that MT's hook great at the track but don't hook on the street? I have Nitto's and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that the Nittos hook really well on the street and crappy at the track. I'm putting down at least 650 rwhp (put down 695 during winter dyno) and my 3 yr old dry rotted and bald nitto's hook in first from a roll after a short drive and a small burnout. At the track on low boost probably making around 575 or so I couldn't hook first, second or the first half of third gear.

Lowered the car another 1"

1. How much more narrow are they than the 315/35s?
The 295/45's tread width is 10.6". 315's are ~1" wider but it depend on who makes the tire, some run narrow (like Nitto) while others run wide

2. How much more taller are they than the 315/35s?
295/45's are 27.2" tall, 315/35's are 25.8" tall

3. Do they hook as well, better or worse? I would think that the sidewall would allow for much more weight transfer and allow them to hook better.
The 295's hook much better than my 275/40's but not as good as my old 325/45 M&H's (28 tall). This is mostly due to the 28" killing my gear (lost over 3mph). I've never had 315's.

4. Did the extra sidewall height hurt cornering ability? I don't mind a little bodyroll but I don't want squealing taking a corner too hard.
No, the car handles really well especially when I firm up the shocks and run 25psi...tires have never squealed and I drive like a retard

5. Because of the extra sidewall, did the ride quality increase on rough roads?
Car feels a little better than 275/40's...the 325/45's rode/handled like balloons!

6. What springs do you have on the front and rear of the car?
QA1's: 300# front, 160# rear(Spohn coil over kit)..QA1 single adj shocks all around

...hope this helps

Hey CDUBBZZ,

(i know bringing it back from the dead)

when you say balloons about the M&H 325's, that's a bad thing right?

rode like balloons = not good for handling
Perhaps they would have a different feel on 17x11 rims but on 17x9's the car handled like ***
