Default What are the best drag radials????

What are the best drag radial for my car? I see a lot of people using Nitto's but I know someone with them and they didn't seem too impressive. I was wondering what kind I should buy.

if you're going to be driving on them every day go nittos they are the best in the rain and last the longest. but for just the weekends or track go bfg's, they hook the best but don't last long and suck in the rain

i say the new bfg G-force DR's, at the track side by side between two different vettes with same mods, it consistently pulled better 60' times two weekends ago...although i do think they are more expensive

the only problem with the bfg g-force dr's is that they only come in smaller sizes in anything less than an 18" wheel (for imports) so unless you have a vette or want to step up to 18's your going to want to stay with the comp t/a dr's in a bfg

I got the BFGs and I cant get traction with them. if I launch at 3,000-3500 I spin them I have yet to get better than a 2.0 in my 60 foot. I think im going the ET streets next.

I have the bfg dr's. They suck! launch @ 2500 and still have tire spin. best 60 was a 2.0. Go with nittos, heard nothing but good about those tires.

Daily Driver, go with the Nitto's.

Strip only, go with ET Streets or Hooiser QTP's.

BFG's are a better track only tire... but not worth it unless your running a class that requires a radial tire.

I agree, HOWEVER - I use BFGs because I want the best traction available (they are dedicated track tires) AND I have to drive about a 80 mile round trip to the track and back, on the highway. No trailoring, and no bias-ply tires.

Complicating the picture, there are at least three
"flavors" of Nitto 555s that are different wear/straight/
corner compromises. So one guys "Nitto experience"
might be relevant or irrelevant to your application.

I would try to use ET streets or QTPs at the track if you can. I roll on ET streets all the way to the track and back, and it's over 110 miles one way.

I vote for Nittos..have owned 17"(275/40/17), 16"(245/50/16) and 15"(275/60/15) at various points and was happy with them all...car was daily driven on the 17" and 16", through rain and even some light snow one time when I didn't get it home from school in time to store it before it snowed..

If you street race go nittos.

If you race only at the track keep your regular street tires and get a set of take off rims with et streets. I drive 90 miles round trip to the track every time I race with them.

I had nittos and they can get scary when it is raining.

they say with bfg's all you have to do is get a good spin and clean them off whereas nittos need to be heated up. well, i could launch harder with nittos after doing a burnout than i could with bfg-no burnout. if i do a burnout on bfg's they do hook pretty hard but it wears out the tire REALLY fast. i have the bfg's right now but when they wear out... soon, i will be going back to nitto's. in the rain the nittos are a little better than bfgs new-for-new but once you start wearing them down, a tire with no tread is going to perform = to annother tire with no tread in the rain so that wouldn't influence my decision too much.
bottom line, if you dont mind changing tires, get some cheap wheels and slicks. if you want the flat out best hooking radial get bfg's. if you want a good all around tire get nitto's.

Why is it that people use ET Streets vs ET Drag or a full slick for that matter?

Kinda curious.

Because they hook MUCH more consistantly.
