Did he say how much that would cost? I'm thinking about doing the same to my wheels just for some black wheels for now until i get around to a wheel/tire package. Or just buying some automotive paint from like autozone or something?

I think you as the consumer would prefer them taken apart to have them powder coated, this way you would know the entire surface of the inner part of the wheel was coated well and wouldn't have issues in the future with the powder coming off starting on the edges where it was masked instead of taken apart (maybe it wouldn't be an issue at all though). Just my $.02 but I would definitely take them apart for piece of mind in the future.
