Anyone daily M/T street drag radials?
probably a dumb *** question but its been in the back of my mind. How long do they last if not abused? rain?
my 555rs lated me 7 months of daily driven service. and was curious how big a hit i would take at switching to M/Ts

I've been through 3 sets of nitto's and got around 10k miles out of each set give or take a few brake stands. I'm currently about 1500 miles into my second set of MT's and they still look brand new, My first set of MT's got me somewhere between 6 - 8k miles depending on how bald you want to take them.
One thing for sure you'll love the way mickey's hook compare to nitto's but you'll hate how they perform in the rain compare to nitto's so its a trade off... All though that was on mt's old tread design, they new design I'm running right now look like they'd be a little better at dispersing water but I havent tested them yet...
And to Pheer's ? no their not slick they have grooves, here's a pic

Do not use the M/T drag radials on your daily driver. They are THE worst tire ever on wet pavement or in rain. I had a set on the back of my '05 C6 one time, because I was too lazy to change them back from a track visit earlier that week. Drove it to work, got caught in one of those scattered showers that only lasts about 2 miles on the highway. I couldn't do more than 30 mph without the car starting to fishtail. Had to drive on the shoulder for at least a mile, while people honked.
Lesson learned. They SUCK when even slightly wet.
Nitto's are the only drag radial I'd recommend for daily use. I've ran them on several cars rain or shine. Just change them when the tread bars are showing or you will also spin out.

I figure hey, I could probably DD these as long as i drive easy! Well, you CAN, but it's really pushing it IMO.. My experience?
Was only going 30mph in a 50, making sure i was staying away from other cars, and once i hit an intersection (while not giving ANY gas or brake, just coasting) the *** end kicked to the side and for about 50 feet or so it was just chilling to the side while i slowwwwly pulled it back in as to not whip the other way.
Lesson learned. DRs are on the shelf with 90% tread either waiting to be sold, or me to pick up a pair of welds.

I daily drive mine and have about 4k on them now. Got stuck in the rain a few times and its like driving on ice! They are just about shot and need to be replaced so I would not recommend them for daily use. I'm going back to Nitto's but M/T has grip like you wouldn't believe!

I have over 3500 miles on my 315 mt's.
as for these rain horror stories, I don't buy into it. I JUST got home from the gym and was caught out in the rain for the first time. I drove 15 miles @ 60 mph home IN THE RAIN with NO problems whatsoever. I even mashed the throttle a couple of times to see if they were going to spin easily. I was surprised how well they hooked in the wet after hearing the above horror stories, especially when you consider that my car has a big converter and 12 bolt with gears and a stiff posi unit. torrential rains and standing water would of course be a different story with the mt's reduced tread depth.
you guys had me scared for no real reason.
