Default 245/45R17 on a 17x9.5?

Anyone ran a 245/45R17 on a 9.5" rim? I've got 17x9.5 Fikses and I am going to run a 275/40 Toyo TQ on the rear but want to put a narrower tire up front.

Some pics would be great also. Thanks.

i wouldnt recommend going that narrow on the front. the 245 is best suited for an 8 inch wheel. i would recommend either 275s all the way around, 255s on the front and 275s on the rear, or 275s on the front and 385s on the rear.

Yeah, only problem is 255's don't come in that many brands, and they are exactly 26 inches tall. I absolutely hate it when the front tire is taller than the rear LOL.

understandable. because you have 9.5s you are kind of stuck. i work with tires almost everyday so i see what looks safe and stupid and what looks ok. 245s arent recommended for anything more than 9 inch wheels. 255s and 275s are the best for 9.5 inch wheels. the next size up is 315s, and those need a 10.5 inch wheel

OP, a 255/40/17 is 25.1 inches tall BTW. those would be the narrowest i would recommend on a 9.5 inch wheel

Yeah I used to work at a tire shop, actually it was my fiance's dad's shop and I worked there for about 6 years straight and 4 off and on. We used to put 245's on 9's all day long but I just don't really remember how they looked. LOL

I will try and get you some pics tomorrow.. They don't look bad at all really.. A 255 would look much better IMO though.. The 235/245s whichever they are kind of curve inward towards the outside on the side of the tires... Hope that made sense.. It did to me, kinda..

Yeah I found some Nexxen 255's for 77 a piece. Not bad considering I sold my used 275 BFG's up front for 200 lol

And I know those BFG's were a better tire, but damn, they are WIDE and I don't like the wider front tire look LOL

Look on Ebay for a tire called Turbo Amercian GT or something of the sort.. You might have to search a bit and try individual sizes like typing in the search "255/17" and so on.

They run like 250$ or so shipping to your door brand new.

Well 250 is more than 154 so I think I will stick with the nexxens. LOL they have a W speed rating and I get them at cost and will just mount them up myself.

I had Dunlop 245/45-17's on my Forgeline RS Comp's when I got them. They seemed fine (as in not overly stretched).

Yea, definitely not ideal for a clean look.. But had to get some tires on there and I paid next to nothing for all 4 of them.
