I didnt cut the paint and mine are absolutely perfect...as long as you use the heat gun and take your time nothing will flake off. mine look completely factory

the trick is the heat gun and not going over board with the lip angle.
you only need 45 degrees anymore is really not necessary and will only
cause more stress on the paint to crack at the bend line.

I needed every millimeter of space and that is why I folded mine against the inside. Bending up to 45 degrees simply wouldn't create enough clearance in my situation.
