Here You All Go!
This guy posted before on this subject.
Some pics in thread, and my original post also.

I had NITTO 555R DR's on mine for about a year and run in a GM Challenge Series once a month. I drive with them on the car all the time, otherwise with non DR's is like driving on a frozen pond if you squeeze it even just a 'lil bit.
When I go out to the track, it's 120 miles roundtrip.
I just replaced them a week ago as our last yearly Challenge race is in December.
Alot of Pro & Con on this subject: 315/35x17 on a 9" rim, but mine are on 17" x 9" WS6 SPEEDLINE'S.
They're fine and tread wear is fine: 26 lbs around town/hiway and 20 lbs at the Dragstrip. 1.66-1.68 60 ft. on my setup with an A4.....

Yeah I don't understand why this topic gets locked as much as it does. It's well known the NITTOS run stupid small.. I could understand locking a thread with somebody throwing 315 GSD3 on a 9.5" rim, but not NITTOS... Makes no sense.

Its pretty common, people do stuff like this all the time.
In fact even vehicle manufactures run tires on wheels smaller than the tire manufacturer approves. IIRC ferrari does this.
Yes tire manufactures have reccomended widths but alot of that is to cover their ***. Ive seen 275s on 8s with no issues and 315s on 9.5s with no problems, even seen some 255s on 10.5s.
I wouldnt do it because I think it may negate the advantages, but i do see it rather regularly.

i sit back and shake my head everytime one of these threads pops up. until you work with tires and understand the difference in construction between a DR and a radial tire you will never understand why they arent safe being crammed onto a wheel that small. and until you see firsthand what happens to tires being stretched/crammed onto wheels you will never understand it. keep risking it running 315s on stock wheels, when you get a blowout and go into the wall or in a ditch i wont feel sorry for you
