What Size To Go With? 275 vs. 285 in a 17" rim

Just something to think about..... what offset are your wheels Jonas?
I put TT2s on my '98 last spring. I tried to do a 285/40 all-around (all 4 wheels are 9.5"), but due to being a 9.5" wheel with a more aggressive offset (45 or 46mm, can't remember right now), the 285s rubbed the bottom of the bumper cover lip (where it meets the wheel well liner) pretty badly when turning.
So I pulled the 285s off the front, and put 275s on. Now, no rubbing at all. This was all with GY GS-D3s thouhg, which always run wide for their size.
As for appearance, the 275/285 combo looks great! I would never go back to a 275 rear tire unless they stopped making 285s in a tire I liked. 285 fits the 9.5" width much better, and looks meatier out back.
Hope that helps.

When I had my TTMs (+44mm offset) I ran 275/40 up (no problems) and 315/35s in the rear (no problems)

I have 9.5" ZR1s on my '02 car, with a 56mm offset. Looks like a 285 might work there, but it's pretty close to rubbing as-is with a 275 BFG KDWS. Every car is a little different though, you might be just fine.

They were Firestone Firehawk's. Really nice tire and I would recommend them.
Ryan is right about the rubbing up front (to a point). Mine rubbed when I was at stock height. Once I lowered the car there was enough clearance to avoid rubbing. This was with a 44 offset. The 56mm should have no problems.

And the fact that again I have a 56mm offset and also the fact that Nittos run narrow.. I should defintely be ok
