Default Wheel and Tire Combo

For those that run a 17x9.5's all around, this question's for you. If you ran the 275 40 17 tires on the front, what size tire would you run on the rear's for better performance? I'm about to buy a set of these, but I want to run a wider tire on the rear. What size tire would you all suggest? Thanks for your comments

I would run 275's on the rear too. Can't go any wider without a wider wheel.

You could go 285/40/17 but that's about it.

I had 275's all around. I would think 295's would fit ok. I mean if you are going to be running wider tires in the back , why not just go ahead and buy a wider rim in the back????

I ran the 315 35 17 nitto 555R's on my 17x9 Cobra R's on my 05 GT with no problems whatsoever.

A little bulge, but because they run so narrow they fit and hooked fantastic! Any other tire isn't worth trying to fit it, except maybe M&H, lol

Everyone I worked with at Discount Tire told me they wouldn't even seat the bead because of the wheel size

My combo though was 275 40 17 555's in the front, and 315 35 17 555R's in the back.
Loved it!

Kool!! I have a set of ZR-1's with 17x9's in the front and 17x10 1/2's in the rear, with 315 35 17 nitto's. This will be for stuff like the "standing mile runs" and highway runs, stuff like that. I'm about to purchase this for a different look, that's all. Looks like the 295 would be the way to go. What are your thoughts on that size?
