Default M/T drag radials vs M/t Street slicks for m6

Have a 700hp m6 camaro. Tires are currently 17.9.5" all around with MT ET DRAG RADIALS 275/45/17 in the rear. Running 18psi in the rear tires. Cannot get no traction with a 3k rpm clutch dump on the street. Car will just sit still threw 4 gears then slowly move. The tires are kinda very old - I beleive they were bought when M/t first came out with the drag radial et. My question is will the M/T street slicks hook better on the street?? Or just a new pair of M/T drag radials. Need help. Just need a tire that will hook up on the streets for a 700hp camaro m6. Car only driven on the weekends - like a cruiser.

I think even MT says to use the ET streets over the ET Radials when using a manual transmission. When using an auto transmission the ET Radials are the way to go. So I would say yes. By the way I'm running the Hoosier street radials with great success. The down side is you absolutely cannot use them on the street though they are DOT rated. On the track they are fabulous.

You need to get those wheels widened and throw some 325 M&H Drag Radials on there. I am running these tires right now with 754rwhp and they hook pretty damn good from a roll.

You need more sidewall than a 17" rim is going to offer to get any sort of traction with 700hp and a clutch. Time to start looking into 15" rims. Bias ply ET Streets would be a better choice than the radial. It takes a good driver and a good clutch to hook up a big power stick car, even more-so on the street.

Just a street car. Just want something that can give me somewhat of traction from a dead stop. First four gears - just sits there and smokes

Damn if you had a 10" wide wheel those M&H tires would be ideal!!

I know a guy who runs a Hoosier 255/50/16 radial on his stock Camaro wheels and drives all over the place, 50+ miles each way to the track and meets and whatnot. Pretty sure he only does this when the chance of rain is 0% though.
BTW he is running 10.30s on a 1.5 60 ft on that relatively narrow 16" tire; most guys in that ET range are using 275s or 315s on a 15" wheel with more sidewall. Those Hoosiers hook like a ****.
