Default Question about stock WS6 Rims?

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to replace 2 of my rims since someone decided to run me off the road a week ago. I have been looking since I have an 02. I thought they needed to be atleast 17" because I heard 16" with rub on your calipers. Anyway I keep on seeing 16" are these for the firebirds and people trying to pass off as the WS6 Wheels or is because of different years? Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Joe

Well, if you need to replace two of your wheels you should replace them to match the other two....

You can fit 15", 16" 17" etc... on our cars all day long although some 15s require you to do a little grinding on the caliper before they'll fit up easily.

Some base cars came with the 16s. I dont believe any WS6 car came with 16s though.

You need 17x9. Alot of people may think they have ws6 wheels bc they measure their 16x8 wheels and they cone out to ~17x9 when measured incorrectly.

Hope that made sense.

airpower - where are you located? I know this isn't the correct area & haven't listed them anywhere yet but I have 4 wheels w/tires off my '02 WS6 that I'll sell. However, I don't want to break up the set. PM if you're interested.

The WS6 wheels are 17" and I think they were different in 2001 & 2002 although they look similar to the earlier wheels. Someone can correct the year as I can't remember exactly when they changed.

Sir I'm currently located at Barksdale, LA. Which seems to be a little ways from you. I do appreciate the looking out but I'm guessing your looking for someone close for a pickup?

Not sure what shipping would be but a pickup would certainly be cheaper. Good luck!

Another option is to have them refurbished in the neighborhood of $100 - $200 each depending on the damage if it is not too severe. Buying used wheels can be very upsetting. Sellers will claim "no curb rash, straight, etc.." and then you get them with minor 'this and that' or they don't balance right. I had a wheel re-furbished on my 911 (serious bend on inside or wheel) for $200 last year and only $90 for one of my BMW wheels that had curb rash. That was the way to go for me. They come back perfect. Ask your local 'trusted' tire dealer or friends that may have used refurbishers in the past. Also yes, go with your 17"" rims. My regular '01 T/A came stock with 16" rims. The WS6 was 17".

The switch was sometime in 01. I have seen stock 01's with both styles of WS6 wheels, but only the later style on 02's.
