Default Does Ride Match make a difference?

I bought some Smoothie II's a couple months back. As soon as I put them on, I noticed vibration in the steering wheel that wasn't there before.

I had Discount rebalance, and I also had the alignment checked, but the vibration is still there. My question is, would ride matching the tire take care of the problem, or do I have a bad tire/rim?

the ride match might but i'd have it put on a balancer and just look to see how smooth the wheel rolls out first. i'm not bashing boyd C. but i've seen draglites and bogarts that roll smoother if ya know what i mean. the road force machine will tell you if you have a bent wheel or bad tire though. if your in the south houston area let me know and i can put it on the machine for you.

Update--I had the ride match done on the fronts today--it rides a lot smoother now. I know DTD offers ride match as an option when you buy a wheel/tire package; I'd recommend getting it.

Most defenitly. The "ride match" or road forcing, is a great thing to do. I have personally done a number of sets where the customer has had a recuring problem - and it ended up being a "heavy" tire -- not the rim. I road forced my curent set and they are smooth as glass.

That is good to know. I have the same wheels on my car and I can actually feel and hear the wheel vibrating. I took the car back to Discount Tire to find out what was wrong. They told me that they just need to be rebalanced. They balanced them but the steering wheel still vibrates and the wheels shake.

Simulates road forces to wheel/tire during balancing, telling operator which is the best position/relation of wheel to tire, which direction to rotate tire on rim, etc.,also will tell operator if tire is out of range(anything above 12-14 lbs,if I remember correctly),signaling a "bad" tire. This procedure is well worth the added costs as it will increase ride quality and tire longetivity

Just what SS said - it basically tells you how to best match the tire and rim together. Also, at DTC we will even swap the tires/rims to make the best combo possible. It is worth the price for aftermarket rims (since a lot of the times they aren't exactly round ) , and also for big *** tires/rims that all of our cars run.

pretty much accept that 12-14 lbs isn't bad

very much worth it. especially at 18" and beyond...or heavy wheel & tire combos. Balancing helps, but ride match makes it as perfect as possible.

BTW...the comment on the Boyds is a matter of opinion. Boyd, bcforged, hre, i forged, all share the same manufacturer of hoops and have run out tolerances that are very tight

no more experience than opinion......their wheels are usually pretty good but like i said i've seen a few of which that the wheel run out isn't all that great.
