Default Taking 3 piece wheels apart?

Is it even possible? Lookn at 3 piece with rivets/screws. Would take apart to powdercoat. And before you ask, yes they are real 3 piece wheels.

Jus because they have rivets and screws dont mean they will jus pull apart.. Alot are heated and pressed into place.. But some arent... If those wheels will pull apart there are places out there that sell shells so u can change the width and diameter.

If they are a true 3 piece wheel then they should come apart with no problem. Most of them have silicone around the seam, cut as much of that away that you can, then force the blade of a box knife into the part and go around the wheel, may need to go around twice before the silicone lets go and they come apart. Clean all the silicone away ( a very soft wire brush on a drill works good to clean them up. Re-assemble them with no silicone between the shells, use a dot of red loctite on the bolt threads, tighten them in 2-3 pulls in a star pattern around the wheel (like you do a cylinder head) and final torque to 24 ft lbs. Then fill the valley between the rim halves with silicone and smooth it by forcing the silicone down between the shells with a body squeege (or old credit card type material) and let it dry completely before you mount tires.

usually yes but i'd contact the manufacturer before attempting this. it would majorly suck to have a wheel come apart a year down the road because the rivets weren't torqued correctly or there was no loctite used.
