This thread, and especially the last paragraph of the above post just sold a set of NT05s. I was torn between 555Rs and the NT05s but wanted to know about how much life there was in them. Thank you!

My car is a daily driver...rain or shine. I generally drive it pretty soft on the street. I dont burn out or spin tire with it, just drive like a grandma. Occassionally I will do some full throttle runs, but havent really messed around on roads laying tire or anything. Its been to the track however a dozen times with gooood burnouts there and I've managed to get well over 10K miles. Still on the car now. I will be getting another set but just stay off highways in the rain since you wont be able to go that fast.

Your mileage may vary depending on how you drive but keep pressure up 32 psi on street or so, and drive easy it should last. I honestly never expected these to go as long as they did.

it may have already been said, but i did not read the thread....

I have the 555'r tires. great in the rain, great on the street, pure **** at the track.

bought the nt05r's. great on the street, horrible in the rain, respectable but not amazing at the track. i will admit, i do some nice burnouts and they lasted longer than i thought considering i drive on them everywhere it goes. will buy them again for street tires.

Just finished my first set of NT05R's last week. One tire still has a good bit of life left the other is worn down pretty good to the wear bars. Must be the way the car spins tire, that one driver side wears more.

Oh well, I think I was around 15K miles on them. Absolutely amazing for such a soft tire. I just got my second set installed last week and hope to see as many miles. Will keep posted.

Sounds like your limited slip is going out.

I have been caught in the rain several times with the NT05R's and they did great.

Its a zexel torsen diff, there really isnt anything to wear out but it does like to spin 1 tire more than the other at times. Seems to be pretty common. Plus i do take alot of left turns it seems

Ok so I figured that they wouldn't do that well in the rain compared with the 555rs. If you manage to get caught in the rain on the highway, what's the safest speed that you can go at? And I know that it depends on how hard it's raining but just an overall figure of speed. My 555Rs have alot of tread left but they are an old tire. They've been on the car since 2008 and it wasn't driven much for 2 and a half years. So I may be looking at the NT05Rs sometime next year. Rain is my primary concern since during the summer months it downpours here like no tomorrow.

I never seen an answer for this. I also would like to know

They (NT05R's) should do pretty well for people with less than 500rwhp. I have some fresh ones on my car and I'm pushing close to 700rwhp but then again mine are 345's.

For what ever it's worth guys, I used to run 315 Nitto 555R's, and switched to the Toyo Proxes TQ dr, and will never go back to the 555R again!! The Toyo lasted nearly as long, was nice and wide in a 315, griped much better, worked just as good in the rain, AND was $20 cheaper as well

This is what i want to hear!! I wanted something that will hook on a street, but still be safe to drive in all kinds of weather. I would have settled for some nitto 555R, but i dont like how they run pretty small.

So i am strongly considering toyos..

Absolutely! No mind you the might be a tad less grippy than a BFG ot MT (but much better than the 555R) and will last damn near as long as the 555R!
