Default Drag setup?

Hey guys I might be in the market for a drag set up. My car has h/c and all the fun stuff. But Im still on a street radial. I was dumb enough not getting and 11" rear when I bought my Zr1's. Now my I need a Drag radial for when I go to the track, but dont know what I should do. I still have the stock 5 star z28 rims 16x8 should I put a radial on that? Or should I get a skinny front tire and something wide out back. My buddy has a set of pro stars but I really dont want to grind the calipers. I know only one or two companys make wheels that fit over the stock calipers on a 15" rim. What do you guys suggest....

Wow, just re-read that and it doesnt sound right at all. Basically would the stock 16x8 with a drag radial be good for my setup. or should I step up to a real drag set up?

Mickey Thompson makes a 255 drag radial for a 16" wheel I think.

You can run the 245/50/16 nitto 555r's on them,as far as grinding the calipers for skinnies, I believe all you need is a 5/16 spacer up front and you're set, only reason I know is because i have 15 x 10 out the rear and about to buy my skinnies for the front, except I am running a 15 x 6 because i daily on them

If your track even half *** preps the track you should be good with a mt radial on the stock rim. I would probabpy go et street though, the onebwih the two thin lines..

Yeah if you pick the non-radial ET Street on the stock 16 inch rims, it should hook like a MF.

If a slick will kill it a radial or cheaper slick will as well.

The stickier the tire, the more consistent.

You should be good for a while unless it is already hurting.

Put the 255/50/16 ET street radials on there and you'll be alright
