Default Street tires that hook?

Hey guys, I am trying to see if it is possible to run a 315/35/17 street tire that will actually relatively hook with my setup. I have the mods in my sig, and plan on adding an LS6 intake and 4.10 gears. I would like to have the car hook up by about 20mph, if that is possible.

With that said, is that possible on street tires or will I have to stick with Nitto NT555R's or Toyo Proxes TQ DR's to hook?

Thanks!

Don't know if you can get them in that size, but Goodyear GSD3s are awesome. I have them in a 295/35/18 with heads/cam and 4.10 gears and they do pretty great!.

When this picture was taken, had about 12k miles on them and wayyyy too many burnouts to count. Still had some left in them, but I was afraid of blowing the 10bolt. Which, coincidentally, I did, on the street, going from a dig, with those same tires at 2 years old, and 15k miles, launching at 2k rpm... ah well.

Any decent performance street tire will hook with your power level. There are many options

Your not going to get street tires to hook....I mean unless you pull a couple of plug wires....as far at DOT tires you can always looking into a M/T or Hoosier....

Sure M/T's or Hoosier's would hook up great, but there are several other choices that are cheaper that hook up too. MT's arent needed for traction with a 12 second car

Do you guys think the Nitto NT555 street tire would have a chance at hooking? The tires mentioned in this thread are anywhere from 250-400 dollars a tire. Little ridiculous IMO.

I've been running NT05's 275/40/17 on my full bolt on M6 Z28. They hook reallly well for a street tire. Of course your better off with a full on drag radial, but for a street tire that is driveable in the rain NT05's are a good choice IMO.

I've been wondering this same question. My shitty Goodyear Eagle F1's don't hook very well at all, and were dissapointing at the track. But hey they are just a street tire after all. I think I'm going to end up picking up some NT05's as I have heard good things about them. Just hope I dont break my rear.

I don't doubt it. I would think they are a great choice but look at the price for a 315/35/17.

I ran the 315/35-17 Goodyears, cut a few 1.7~ 60 fts when they were new. They hooked great, and resisted hydroplaning, and cornered well too. I liked em.

If you wanna run 315's you gotta pay to play I think 555's would be decent enough for the street at your power level. My buddy runs BFG street tires and full suspension on his 500rwhp '98 SS, on the street, it hooks pretty damn decent for how much power there is.
