Default cant decide between nitto dr or et streets

Like it says in the title...... I'm ordering 15x8 wheels in a day or 2.... I know the et streets hook better than the 555r but the nittos last longer..... they will be driven on the street too... any help with this decision. Would be appreciated...
Thanks

My 275/50 Nittos hooked just as well hot as I've been able to get my M/T 325/50 to hook. 1.78 60ft on Nittos with a roll in and stab launch, 1.77 60ft on M/T same kind of launch. Next time I go I'm going to burn the ever loving **** out of the M/T and see if they will stick.

The Nittos are also cheaper, especially if you find an online retailer with them on sale.

My M/T aren't wearing near as fast as I expected. I've had 2 trips to the track and a couple thousand street miles and they aren't noticeably worn much at all.

Compared to Nittos, they suck *** in rain. The Nittos were excellent in the rain, much better than my normal street tires. The M/T are just plain scary on anything other than just damp pavement, if there is enough water to sit on the road or while it is still raining they are very nerve racking.

Nitto 555 dr are better for street and rain. but MT streets are better for traction at the trac. Yes you will have to heat them up a bit. as stated above, nittos are better for rain. Ive had nittos dr a while back. they cant hook nearly as well as et streets. et streets are basically slicks with grooves. nittos are slightly softer compound than street tires.

Well see i have a set of bald 555rs and they just don't hook anymore... so I was thinking about going back with a new set of them.. but I would rather have more traction at the track... so my question is..... when is it time to graduate up to the MT streets... like power wise?... or with my Mods on my car will the nittos hook... and I don't Wana baby it off the lights at the track

If you get nittos you WILL NOT dead hook at the track. Ive had both tires. Ive cut a 1.61 60ft with et streets with the wheels 2" off the ground. My personal best with nittos was a 1.76. The compound on MT streets is more like full slicks...there for you will hook more. Nittos 555 dr are closer to a street tire than a slick. ET streets are closer to a slick than a street tire. YES, nittos are overall better as a stree/strip tire...but since you are looking for traction at the track, Et streets are the way to go.

As for power to use et streets...If you got a v8, then you are good to go. lol.

Don't know if it makes a different but the names are confusing, I'm using the M/T ET streets with this tread:

I have no experience with the ET Streets with this pattern:

I have Nitto 555R's as my street tires. They are there on the street for a reason, and a reason why I swap to 17" ET streets or 15" Hoosier QTP's depending how far I wan't to set the launch on kill.

Nitto's are awesome in the rain on the street, ET streets will make you either, A) Find God B) Find a good Life Insurance Policy C) Make you carry a change of underwear D) All the above.

If you read his posts correctly, He said, "I would rather have more traction at the track"... Nittos do hook a little better than good set of street tires at the track, but not nearly as good as MT et streets. "gotta give a little, to get a little"

If you drive mt et streets on the road you just have to drive a little more cautiously and use common sense. Dont whack the throttle on wet roads, and dont corner too hard. Ive driven in the pouring rain before with no problems. of course I wouldnt go over 60mph in the rain. I wouldnt even do that on anything but street tires.

Yea well I've had my one encounter with almost bald ET street II's getting caught in a hell of a flash T storm at 65mph on the highway. Needless to say decelerating from 65 to 45 when the rain hit, and forgetting to unlock the converter in a 600+rwhp car with DR's, in the rain, on the highway, in a storm I would of never put myself in.

If possible don't drive you DR's in the rain, I have friends with way more experience than me at the strip and behind the wheels of cars with 2x power mine does that won't drive over 35mph in the rain.

There is also a big difference between 600+ and 300+ rwhp so then again my problem may have just been amplified. Still, go with two sets of tires if you can swing them, if not get the 555r's. I have seen guys pull 1.6 60's with full exhaust, a lid, lca's, and PHB. Granted it was a 15" wheel on a 28" tire, they still hook when hot and sticky.

Well I didn't realize the pressure recommendations were different based on size.

I am running 325/50 so according to M/T I need to drop below 16# instead of the 18# I have been trying.

They recommend as low as 12#. Maybe I'll find a 1.6 60ft yet...

There would be less confusion if the entire names were used.

ET Streets are a mostly slick bias ply tire. The first time I read it I was curious why we were comparing a Nitto Drag Radial to a bias ply tire.
