Arrow Pros and cons of skinnies up front for street use?

Hey guys I've done some research on the benefits of skinnies up front but curious if there are any cons to them on the street. My car will be used for more of a fast street car not so much a drag car. But I do want to have the drag look so I'm thinking of doing some ccw drag pak... Love the looks but unsure if I should do that or just regular 18inch classics. Please help. Thanks in advance!

If you don't plan on taking it on the track very often, there's really no need to up the chances of something bad happening just to lose a few pounds up front. It's all opinion, but if you ever need to brake/turn hard with those small tires, you aren't going to have a fun time. Not worth the higher risk, but of course, up to you.

It looks bad ***, and as long as you're not being a complete dumb *** or driving through tornadoes you will be fine.

Thanks for the response. Ok here's where I'm confused... What risk is there by running them up front? How does it effect braking and turning?

I cant think of any pros on the street other than looks....

Huge cons in the form of compromised handling, braking and high speed stability.

Looks good til you have to suddenly cut the wheel to avoid something in the road, then good night sweet prince.

Smaller surface area, just think about it...for better traction when trying to launch, one of the easiest ways to get better traction is to get wider tires, more surface area to grab on to. Turning/stopping is the same way, if you reduce the surface area for the tire to "grab" onto the road, whether it be stopping/turning, you won't have the same capabilities as a wider tire (given the same tire material).

Plenty of people do it and get away with it, at the same time, if some kid runs out into the street, a deer gets out on in front of you, etc, do you trust yourself doing that on a regular basis? I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but if you truly aren't going to be fully utilizing it, then for me, the gains vs. "risk" if you will, isn't worth it on a daily basis.

i would not run anything other than the VW tires on the front. i stopped using them because i was doing alot of highway driving. in the rain you had to go 10 under the speed limit everywhere. cornering difference is noticable however if you dont drive like a dumbass its not a big deal

i would say do not run them if you do any highway driving. traffic could stop really fast and you wouldnt

if you dont drive like a dumbass you will be fine, i have had mine on all year ,and i drive it alot, just have to becareful, brakes are not as good, and cant take crazy fast turns,i would maybe look into a 17 x6 up front or something like that, with a 15 rear.i will say the car imo is not as much fun to drive on the street with a drag setup, sometimes i wanna drive like a *** lol.after 2 years of running a drag setup im gonna head back to a better street wheel, was thinking weld rts in a 17,15 or just go 17s all around.also if the car is gonna be driven in the rain etc becareful, mine is bad when its real wet out,

agree with chrysler kid, on the highway when traffic stops and you dont see it ,your gonna have an issue ,ive had to lock mine up one time because of a deer . scarey crap, and in the rain if the speed limit is 60,65 i have to go 45 ,soon as i go over 50 im all over the place. not trying to scare you away from a drag set up for the street ,just wanna make you aware of how it is.i still say if your not at the track alot and its just a street car ,stay with street wheels

Just remember that these wheels are made to go straight. Don't take turns too quick, expect to stop like you have street wheels/tires on, and go slower in the rain. Do that and you are fine. I drove around on mine for awhile.

+1 on not doing it, i'm totally against doing that , the braking power will suffer bigtime when you are fully pressing on the brakes (emergency situations). They are NOT designed for daily street driving, however if you must, you can always drive a bit slow. IMO ur disable-ing your car when you're them while driving around the city, you wont be able to take turns as fast.

Ok so does everyone agree on 18x6s or not enough weight difference between that and 18x8.5? I'm doing 16s in the rear for sure with taller tires just unsure how that'd looks with small wheels in the back and bigger wheels in the front. It'll either looks awesome or really bad! Is anyone has pics of a setup like that please post up

Either run skinnys or dont, dont settle for a 5-6" wide rim up front, that would look dumb as ****.

+1, no point in just going for the looks/ending up with all the cons and none of the pros.
