Question on Nitto 555r
Question on Nitto 555r Blew a tire and can only find the NT555r's in stock anywhere.
Anyone have Nitto NT555R's on their daily driver? What is the tread wear like?

Mine are wearing weird as hell honestly. My left rear has worn pretty bad and my right rear still has good tread left. I can't figure out why. I only have about 4000 miles on mine right now and the left has about 35% tread left and the right has like 60% tread left. I actually think mine are worn bad in the centers is because I had a faulty tire presure gauge and I was airing them up to like 38 psi. I just bought a new set of 315's that just came in today. I would say if you run them at the right psi they will go about 10-15k miles no problem.

Decided not to go with the 555r's. Dealer tried to talk me into putting 285's on a 17x11 rim. Not sure I want to go that route. Anyone have pics of 285's on a 17x11 rim?

Verdad Gallardo Good decision. I just got my 315 555r's and they don't hook worth a ****. Actually the 275 555r's hooked just as good. And im guessing I will see about 7-8k on them tops. This will be my last nitto 315 for sure.

I just went from 305-35-18 mt et streets on my car to 305-40-18 nitto 555r's.
as far as traction, they are the same on the streets. I havent been to the track with the nitto's yet tho. I am running 30psi in my nitto's and have almost 1k on them. They are much better in the rain then the mickeys and seem to be wearing pretty well.
the car hooks as it sits with 4.11's and 412rwhp in 1st gear. I havent tried spraying on the nitto's yet, but on the 150 shot in 2nd at 40mph (600rwhp) the MT's wouldnt even break lose.
on my buddys 800rwhp tt cobra, he is running 315-35-17 nitto 555r's and he doesnt have any traction issues on the street as well.....

False. It was a hot day today I was on the best black top road around here and I have them aired up both at 22-23 psi. I launch anywhere over 2k rpms or 60% throttle and they go up in smoke. I really was expecting them to dead hook. Im still very very dissapointed in these tires.

For example, I run a NT05 street tire (275/40/17) and have little issues hooking my cammed M6 LS1 from a dig (pulling 1.9 60 foots at the track. Put the same exact tire on your car and it might just go up in smoke.
Its hard to compare tires on two different cars though. Every car is going to act a little different because of all the variables with suspension, clutch/stall, power band, road surface etc. Just because it's hot outside doesn't automatically mean that your tires will hook better. Of course I doubt either of you are lying, I just feel you are experiencing two very different results with the same exact tires.

1.9 60 ft is not really good though. I cut a 1.78 60ft on my 275 555r's. I probably cut a 1.9 60ft on the street. That still isn't good to me. I really wanted these tires because of a race with a awd evo. And I'm sure he would launch on me if I can't get these things to hook any better. I guess I should mention just recently I lowered the back of my car... So my lack of traction is caused alot by my lowered stance. Wich pisses me off even more. Cuz now I have to decide if I want it to look good or hook good. Damn the frustrations
.What i'm trying to tell you is that it is very hard to compare the same tire on two different cars. What works on one car may not work another. From my experience, people have mixed results with 555R's... some people's cars can make them work and others swear they are no better than a regular street tire. I'm sure your quite experienced at the local track and the "other local track"
, ask around and see what everyone thinks is the best drag radial. Your going to get a handful of different answers. Some will say M/T, Hoosier, Toyo, etc. it all comes down to combination. Just because your car doesn't seem to like 555r's doesn't mean that its a crap tire.
