I hate to ask, but what is the point of putting a 9" and Stage 3 Monster in the car if you're not going to run a DR?

I see where you're comin from on that... But honestly, the 10 bolt is TRASH. Id get rid of it a.s.a.p. Even if I ran street radials. Launching hard with any type of tire is bad for that weak gabage. Might as well do it now than get DR's and wait for it to break ya know?

well i have had the 9in for awhile(broke the 10bolt at the track) and ran on slicks when i had spray on the car. I no longer have that setup and dont have the slicks anymore. How much worse is the traction on the 555r tires on wet roads? I will be adding a plate kit or something ne win the near future just right now need something for the car as it sits till i do that again. might just do these if it isnt much diffrent http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=false&cs=315

I don't think the 555r's should be too much worse... still going to be better than the NT05's so you shouldn't have to worry. BTW slicks + 10 bolt is asking for trouble hah.

I actually broke the 10bolt on mt drag radials when my car was stock and a 100 shot. I have had the 9in for a good 4 years now. Didnt add the slicks till i got the 9in and a better clutch and more power. How many miles is most people getting with the 555r's?

Will you destroy a 10 bolt with 295 street tires and 450hp?

Oh... MT drag radials still hook damn good. All MT's do, maybe once I live in a place where it doesn't rain so much in the winter I'll run MT drag radials year round. Hmm... Not sure on that, but I'm assuming that you won't get as many miles out of em as you could with the 555s. Just by looking at the 555r's you can tell the tread depth is a bit less than the 555s. I suggest looking at the tread wear rating between the 555 and 555r.

This depends on a lot of factors. You're probably okay, but all is it takes is the right conditions and you're kissing it goodbye.

I agree with what Spd Kilz says... but honestly, take it easy. In my stock 98 Z with 295 NT05's I only launched it hard a couple of times, I really trying to take care of the 10 bolt as long as I could. I think you should pick up a 9" as soon as you can, it will outlast the cost and it's definitely worth it.

I currently have 555s 315/35/17 on the back and I am into the wear bars with about 10,000 miles (all street). Wet traction is not an issue, but hydroplaining is starting to be an issue. Think I will be buying them again. I had some Sumitomos before that and had cord showing at 6000 miles (and they really were not sticky).

Oh god... sumitomos? Haha literally any other tire brand is an upgrade from sumitomos lol. I feel you on the hydroplaining issue. It's like that once ANY tire gets worn down. Even if you have a $3000 set of tires designed to give you the Best possibly wet traction, it's always a good idea to drive safe anyway.

^^^ see, gotta be careful hah. They built that 10 bolt to withstand normal driving from point A to point B. But gave us a damn good tranny/motor to play with lol. Gotta beef em up before you abuse em.
