Default Z28 Tires

Hey, guys. I have a 98 Z. It came with 2 45 50 R16s on it. They need replaced, bur everywhere I go tells me that's an odd ball size. I have stock rims. What do you guys run on yours?

That is not an oddball size at all. 245/50/16 tires have been a long standing common tire size for F-bodies that were issued 16x8" wheels from the facotry, going back to the 3rd gen years.

It is an odd size outside of f-bodies. When I used to have 16" wheels, every time I walked into a tire place they knew I had a Camaro just by the size.

I've had 2 sets of Goodyear GS-D3s on 16" Z28 stock wheels. Love 'em wet or dry.

Exactly. Go check out discount tire or tire rack. The selection for the 17" F body wheels is plentiful, and so it is for every other type of vehicle on the market. But the 16" wheels? I believe there're like 4 or 5 types of tire available? Let's face it-16" wheels are a dying breed. Same goes for the 15" tires I still drive on my '69 Charger-there's a total of TWO tires available in my size. I bet your typical Civic comes with 18" wheels from the factory...

I got my tires from tire rack online. They probably had close to 15 choices. That's more than enough for me.

Riken Raptor ZR from TireSavings.com. 300 treadwear, AA traction, and an A temperature rating. $107 per tire.

Price has gone up. I purchased them for $93 per tire 1 year ago.

The only thing I hate about our tire size is trying to find decent looking wheels.

Same here on the T/A. For 16" they are not cheap (about $800 installed, balanced, taxes, etc...) but incredible tires. They grip the wet better than anything I have owned before. That is saying a lot in these F-bodies.

Where? I found wheels but none that looked good on a pewter camaro. I've been looking for wheels like the C6 Z06.
