Weld RT-S Fronts- Who has had Rubbing Problems?
I'm looking to sell my prostar setup and purchase Weld RT-S's before the end of the year. I've read a few guys have had issues with the front rubbing ever with a 26" tall tire. My car is lowered with QA1 Coilovers and a 275lb spring up front. I would hate to get the 1.75 BS and have to run a spacer up front as I know the 1.5 BS sticks out a little bit. The set up would consist of 15x4 and 15x10. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I ran the 15x4 with 1.5 BS Med pad, 26x6 Sportsman SR's up front.. Ride height was exactly the same as I had with my Summitt Stars(stars had a 1.75 BS) and 1st time out my fenders hits the tires when stabbing the throttle and letting off.. I changed over to 17x4.5 with a 2.2 BS(websites says 2.5 BS, but this is false, these rims were never made in a 2.5, per Weld) and have had not 1 issue with the tires hitting the fenders.. I have QA1 coilovers with 315 lb springs. Wasn't sure I would like the 17's up front and 15's in the rear, but I think it looks pretty sharp.. Hope that helps..

I hear ya. I sold my 18's to fund the 17's.. If those 15" welds had a 2" BS they would be perfect.. I have my 15x4's sitting in the basement, only about 40 miles on them.. Shoot me a PM if interested.. They have the black center, not sure if you wanted polished or black..

The 1.5" backspace RTS wheel is the only one made to clear the LS1 brakes. 01F1VET is the only one I've ever heard of that has had rubbing issues, and I don't know why he did. Mine didn't rub when I used to run 15" RTS wheels, neither do any of the other cars I've installed RTS's on.

You are correct on backspace.. There have been a handful of people with similar issues as me.. Reason, don't know.. All I know is with my 1.75 BS 15x4 fronts I had no issues, RTS's with 1.5 BS and same tires I did.. Got me.. I wish I had taken some pics from the front so you could see the difference between the 15's on my car and the 17's.. Great rims, great quality. Good luck OP.

Still looking for some more info. I want to order Sportsman SR's 26/6.0/15 radials for the front but it seems that a few people have had issues with the rim/tire combo rubbing bad. One that I do see that works is the 165/80/15's. I don't want to run bias ply on the street and I know about the safty issues with the 165/80/15. Just wanted to get some more opionions. I have a lowered car with a 275lb spring and Qa1 adjustables so there is a lot of travel up front. Thanks.

Weld offers the 15x4" rt/s with a low pad height in 1.625" and 2.5" BS. But they only offer the medium pad height in 1.5" BS. Per the weld racing website, the difference between low and medium pad is only .300". If all else is the same between the two, then a low pad 2.5" BS wheel, with a more common 5/16" spacer, would still sit the wheel in .6875 (11/16") compared to the medium pad 1.5 BS wheel. Doesn't sound like much, but I think it would drastically change the looks of the front of the car having the tires stuck in the fenderwell more.
I think this is the route I'm going to go with my car. I've gotta get a set of rear wheels when I get a narrowed rear, so might as well change it up All the way around.
