I just used a wire brush on a drill and did all the barrels after I went over them with some steel wool and some simple green. It would take forever to polish the barrels and not to mention the up keep

Is simple green safe for aluminum? Never used it before.

Don't quote me, but from what I've read, you don't want to use it full strength on the wheels. You'll want to mix it with water. I'm not sure what the ratio is. Rinse it off thorughly after you use it.

Started prepping for powder coat by removing the clear coat today. Here is what I used.

I applied a coat and it immediately started working/bubbling. After waiting ~15 mins I hand washed with dawn soap. I repeated this process 2 more times to completely remove the clear front and back. Here is a photo during the process.

Looks Good! I'm going to pick up some Klean strip this week. If you could keep me up dated on your progress, that would be great. Have you done any research on powder coating forged wheels?
Thanks Smitty!

Everything that I have done has been completed before in a similar way. The research that I have done and the threads I have followed were strictly from this website.
I do plan on outsourcing the faces to be powder coated.

Here is one good write up from several years back that I refer to.

I will continue to post my progress. Understand that my progress and updates will be spaced out. I am taking my time.
