My fake 35th 10 spokes

Decided that finding a decent set of 10 spokes was not going to be easy or cost effective so I have begun the process of making my standard silver 10 spokes into 35th clones.
What I started with:

Tires off: (come and get these if your in lower MI)
![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/nascarnate326/Camaro/photo1.jpg)
Makeshift sandblasting booth, OEM finish is tough.
![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/nascarnate326/Camaro/IMG_5593.jpg)
Around this stage I realized there was no way I could keep the factory machined face. Tried to salvage it with some air tools...fail.

More sandblasting:

Finished with sandblasting:

What I learned? Our air compressor doesnt make enough PSI to sandblast efficiently. It was worth a shot.

Since this is a test wheel, painted it black with caliper paint.

I like this sheen.
Added a small section of silver spokes:

Test wheel finished:

At this point I knew I was going to have them professionally sandblasted and powdercoated.
Had to clean the wheels up before sending them off:

Used a die grinder to get it to this:
![](http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a360/nascarnate326/Camaro/photo5-1.jpg)
Did this on all of the wheels.
Sent one wheel out first to make sure that the end result was what I wanted, didnt want to have the cost of 4 for something I didnt like.
Got the wheel back freshly sandblasted and powdercoated in silver:

This is how it sits right now:

Going to drop it off tomorrow for black and clear finishing. Ordered new tires yesterday. Hoping to have this project finished up in the next week.
Ill update when I have some more time.
Silver center caps or black?

getting them professionally done. all the curb rash and chips taken out, having the clear stripped then the paint touched up then recleared. they look very dull and don't pop like they should so i decided it was time to fix that plus i got new tires so i figured i'd do it all at once.

Ill get the first wheel back later tonight.
I was a purchaser for a company and used this company for some of our powder coating, and my uncle works there![Happy](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_stretch.gif)
I dont think they hooked me up that much though, professional sandblasters/powder coaters do things much faster so a couple of wheels isnt much for them.

^ Agreed, i used to blast/powder. Sand 2-3 min MAX per wheel, PC 2-3 min per wheel (Edit: to shoot, takes longer to bake but is often baked with a bunch of other stuff anyways). Not much time at all, materials aren't bad either. Makes me want to have a shop some day lol guys make a good profit. Cant wait to see finished pics op
