Dude, we are all failing to relate to your absurd line of thinking. As mentioned before, WIDE tires in the back give the F-bodies (and any muscle car) that aggressive and iconic look we love. And the reason the tires appear to stick out past the rear bumper is simply because the bumper cups towards the center line of the car when viewing from aft, looking forward. But they are not sticking out past the fenders, which I would agree looks retarded when they do.

I use to have 17x11's out back. Hey there are some of us that don't like having them after awhile. Yes it looks great. For me though, I didn't like how my rear fenders got chewed up from road debris the tires kicked up. The added weight of the wheels is quite noticeable as well the ride is much harsher. I didn't like having the lift the car by the rear diff or explain to a shop, rear wheels got to come off or the wheels get hung up on the bump stops etc. Cut up side wall if you don't roll the right rear fender or in some cases both fenders. BFH mod, some people end up cutting off their bump stops. 315's aren't cheap unless you run drag radials.

For a daily driver 11's got old for me. I was very happy when I went back to 17x9. To each their own right?

I doubt you will find many. 295/35/17 is too short, 295/40/17 is ok size wise. However, there are not a lot of tires made in either size. Most are DOT approved autocross tires.

sorry but running a 295/40/17 just wont happen. Good luck finding tires and the cost will be twice as much. Plus running a 295 on a 9.5" wheel wont look good.
