Question So I finally got some DR's....wellll

So I finally got some DR's. I got the Toyo Proxes TQ's 255/50r16. Definitely took care of my tire spinning problem. They hook really well on the street and at the track they really hook up. I just have a few questions.

1: Do all DR's due to the softer sidewall make the car move around on the big end of the strip? My street tires really made the car feel stable at 110 mph. With these it moves around a little bit.

2: My 60' didn't get any better either. Not because of the tires but I think it's the clutch not grabbing of the line when launched at 2500 to 3000 rpm. As soon as I launched my rpm's didn't drop down at all they just sort of hung there for a second before the car started to wind up. From 1500 it did a better 60'. Do you guys think it's the clutch? There was no clutch burning smell which has me a little stumped.

That is what happens when you get traction.
The motor will feel like it's bogging.

With the new found traction.
Sounds like you need more rear gear

Any yes that squishy wiggly feeling you are getting up top
is most likely from the DR's and the low tire pressure.

Just try not to do anything sudden to upset the chassis, like lifting completely off the gas or
swinging the car side to side and you won't feel it as bad.

Well that's just it. My RPM's didn't drop and it didn't bog down at all. It just stayed at whatever rpm I launched at for about the first 30'. While trying to launch above 1500 rpm my 60' times were in the 2.3-2.25 range At 1500 it was 1.98 which I did on street tires. I can put the car in 5th or 6th at low speed and mat the gas and the clutch holds.
I should have been able to pick up a couple of 10ths on my 60' with dr's right?

that is pretty much a bog
you need more motor or more gearing

I once had a car that actually went or felt slower with slicks
than on street tires because on street tires the car would spin
and allow the engine to get faster into the power band.

that's why you don't realize how weak your motor is until you start getting
dead traction and then you can count the seconds for it start rolling out.

Bought the car used. There is a receipt for a clutch from 50,000 miles ago and I think it is a "Zoom Perfection" clutch. Whatever the hell that is. At least running the part number for the clutch that's what comes up. Was planning a Monster clutch in the next couple of months anyway after the LT's, duals, cam & tune.

Until 3000 rpm the torque is nothing compared to the torque after 3000 rpm.

Saving up for that now. I know it's coming. If it doesn't do any better off the line I won't need it anyway.

how much pressure you running in the DR's? They, be design, should feel very stable on the big end. you dont run crazy low air pressure on a DR like you would a slick.

I started off at 20 psi (wishiful thinking that I could spin these) and wound up at 35 psi with no wheel spin. Max pressure is 44psi and if I can get away with it that's what I'm gonna try 1st run on Sunday. That should help the stability a little. It definitely doesn't feel like a street tire on top end. I don't feel like it's too scary to take my foot out of it but you do have to drive it.

I have 5 runs on these. All with the same et I had with street tires. No gains at all. But it is more consistent. I could actually bracket race this car now. 8.577 in the 8th 4 runs in a row then an 8.578.

Keep launching higher till you get wheel spin. Set the pressure to 23-27 depending on track temps, and see what happens.

It's a tough thing to get a stock'ish m6 car to 60' in the sub 1.9 range. It definitely takes multiple passes to find the sweet spot between tire pressure and launch rpm.
