Did you paint them black first then strip/polish the face or polish, tape off face THEN spray black? Did you clear everything after? I'm considering picking up some 10 spokes with tires and painting them to look like 35th wheels. Thanks for any advice!

I just want to know how I could strip the chrome off and keep the machined face so I could powdercoat the black and be done. I already have anniversary wheels on my car but also have 10 spokes on the truck I'd like to do anniversary style.

I don't think stripping chrome is a good idea you'll have to pay to have it dip stripped in that case i think it messes with the aluminum finish and you could have just spent the money for a cheap set of painted ones to paint instead. Don't ruin chrome 10 spokes lol.

Thanks for he input. These aren't in great shape by any means. My anniversary wheels are very nice but the chrome ones have a fair share of flaws. If I can't have the machine face showing then I will just powder them a solid color. While the ones done black and silver look good I want the machine face under the chrome showing and not just silver.

I did my spare set to match my 35th wheels. The machined face is under the silver. Its a lot of work to chemically strip them but gives the exact finish.
Another option would be putting them on the wheel on a lathe and machine the face to strip the paint and have a fresh machined finish.
