I tried to get a 15x8 Prostar to fit on the rear with stock brakes and I ended up grinding a hole completely through the caliper. And it was STILL rubbing where the hole was. I recommend against trying this, based on my personal experience. Or swap to smaller brakes.

Then you got carried away with the grinder, best way is to brush a lil paint on the caliper,and keep putting on the wheel and turning it to see when ya have clearance, when ya turn the wheel it will grind the paint off that will tell you where to hit

That is exactly what I did, just a little grinding at a time and very frequent test fittings . As I said in my post above, when I ended up grinding completely through the caliper it was still rubbing right at that spot. So it was never going to clear that caliper no matter what I did with the angle grinder.
I did have newer brake pads on the rear. But if it's going to be that close, the difference between the thickness of new pads vs worn ones, then forget it. I'll just get wheels that fit.

Hopefully this isnt reoccuring?!?!
Ive seen people with cts v and zo6 and strange and woodland big brakes on there.
So i couldnt imaging these not fiting adter grinding

well i got a sick deal on my choice of 15x10 or 15x8 with 15x4s. and i cant pass it up.
i like the look of the prostars and they are MUCH cheaper than the WELD RTS. i love the RTS but its crazy

I hear ya, they are pricey, I personally do like the look of the Prostars better myself but I figured I'd throw it out there and see if I could help you out a little. I guess it all depends on how big you want your tire to be and how much fitting you want to do after you get em. I'm sure someone will give you a more specific answer. Good luck fact finding OP! make sure you post up pics when you get them on the car as I've always liked the way your car looks and she'll look really menacing with those Prostars on her!

Some guys have switched to LT1 brakes, which are a little smaller and therefore require less grinding for Prostar fitment. At least one guy on here swapped to a V6 drum brake rear to avoid caliper grinding altogether. Sounds like a lot of trouble though IMO, unless your rear end is shot and you need another one anyway.
