Default how do I get these stains out?

My 10 spoke SS wheels have some stains on them that look like a liquid was spilled on them and ran down the wheels. They had this issue when I bought the car. I have no idea how it happened or what it is. So how do I get the stains out? I can take some pics if need be.

My guess is whoever balanced the wheels, if they used sticky weights sprayed down the inside of the wheel with brake cleaner and it ran down the front and hurt the finish.. does it have sticky weights or hammer on?

If they're painted then they are also cleat-coated, you can try polishing

why do you say vinegar?

what kind of polishing?

i am very ignorant to anything appearance related. this is the first car I have owned that is clean enough to worry about appearances.

Vinegar is good about removing hard water stains and other contaminants.

Yes it is! I use it on my boat all the time. And you can't beat it for the price!

So the vinegar won't remove the clear coat or paint? The only thing I have used vinegar for is rust removal. Soak a rusty part in vinegar for a day or so and it comes out looking freshly sandblasted.
