Default will 28" tire make me slower roll racing?

my car is strickly street only. no strip.. I need a tire to hook from low speeds or slow roll, 25mph +.I know need a drag rad. no matter what, but im trying to decide what size tire to get.
Its between mh race master 325/40/18 or 315/30/18 mt etII. mh is 28" tall, while the mt II is 25.5
I just wanna know if the 28" tall tire on the street is gunna hurt my roll race and slow me down on hwy runs also?
I have moser 9" w/4.11's the rear can take it. I just wanna hook and book....
any opinions??

It really depends on how far you are turning the motor. If you are shifting at much over 7K you might notice a difference in the car is going to be a lot longer winded. Just take it out now and see how fast you are going through 2nd through 4th and make your own conslusion. I personally would run a 28" tire and 4:56's.

Im only goin to 6,500rpm's. On the street I cant hook until 3rd gear so im thinking a taller tire would be better. Im just concerned a 315/30/18 mt etII or toyo tq 315/35/18 drag radial. wont be sticky enough, and ill have to go 325/40/18 mh.... digs I don't care about, just 1st gear roll hits and roll racing in general.
What brand is working for you guys, and what size? thanks Stunna

id put the 28" tire on it. better traction never slows you down!

I've been running a 315/35/18 Toyo Proxes TQ drag radial for almost 2 years now. GREAT tire, no traction issues up until recently because now they are getting pretty worn. But, you've got a bit more power than me according to your mod list. I'm cam only.

For your application being primarily on the street I feel like 28inch tall race master drag radial would be the better choice.

When I first did my cam swap I put on 335/30/18s nt555r (26") on my z06. they always hooked pretty good from low rolls. Then I put the kit on the car and they still did pretty decent from low rolls but spun a little. Then people got tired of losing to me from a roll so people only wanted to run me from a dig. Then I went out and got 315/40/18 NT05R (28") and raced people from a dig and then everyone went back to roll racing. I did notice that with the 28" tire it seemed a little bit more sluggish at first from a roll. Not sure if it was from the difference in height or more so the extra weight and rotational mass. Needless to say its back to roll racing in my area so I put my 335s back on and sold the 28s. I think when these wear out im gonna try out the 315/35/18 toyo tq's and see if they will be a happy medium.

a taller tire with have more sidewall flex which will bank you more traction on the street but your high speed turns might suffer a little. id go for the taller tire if i were you. what are you currently running?

most advertized 28" tires dont really measure that big. My 275/50/17 m&h tire was concidered a 28" but in reality it was about 27"

My buddy's old 540'swhp Z06 dead hooked 1.4x 60 foot on mickey 315/30/18 ET street 2's. They work pretty good for being a short tire.

I'd go 28" if you can, and it shouldnt hurt that much depending what rpms you are starting at and what your power band looks like. 25 roll may be better for a shorter tire if your gearing isnt optimal but I dont think it will be a huge difference.
