Why 18 rear and 17 front?
Okay I knw people buy the 18s in the rear and 17s front I knw they do it for the stance and have the back look meaner but any reason for pefomance versus going 18s on all 4 corners?

17's are also obviously lighter than an 18" wheels, so that is less weight up front. This obviously being beneficial for street/strip applications. I think it is mostly an appearance thing though. However, I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

When I'm fortunate enough to get new wheels for my Camaro, I plan to put 17" X 9.5" wheels on the front and 18" X 11" wheels on the rear for both aesthetics and practicality. Aesthetically, I like the way a larger wheel and tire look on most cars. And, practically, I like the idea of lower rotating mass on the front of the car and a larger contact patch at the rear. But that's just my opinion, and, as my dad would say, "To each his own."

Its for a trans am its lowered 1.2 inches I currently have 17s on all 4 corners but the 17s are too tuckedin I'm not doing spacers so I woud have to go 18s to get wider on the back cus I can find 17x11 on the ZR1s so its I get 18s or buy 17s and pay 200 each to get them wide so I'm looking for the best set

I bought a set of 17/18 Vette Y2K's and put them on my V6 DD.
The reason I did it was I got the rims for cheap and I needed tires anyway for the chrome 16's so I thought why not upgrade to a larger size for a couple hundred more.
I think they look ok and the car handles well with 32/21 swaybars

i only keep my 17/18's on for the spring/summer time, rotating is out of the question for sure. I have another set (18x9.5 255's on all four corners) for the fall/winter time. Those i do rotate. All in all, yes they work, some like it, others dont. Do what you want boss, its you car after all!!!

Considering that the majority of braking is done by the front wheels and the size of big brake kits reflect that, a set of wheels with the same size tires 275-40-17 or 275-35-18 in all corners as an example makes sense. With a solid axle on anything but super smooth roads, I would be hesitant to go any bigger than 18" all around with a 26" tire diameter. 17" would probably work better in 75% of all race situations assuming brakes clear.

It wasn't disrespectful it was simply a jab / joke / funny / so get over it.
and FYI I have 18x10.5's on the back and 17x9.5 on the front, why because I love the Z06 rims and it looks BA.

It's done on F-bodies because GM did it on the Corvettes. I don't mind the look of an F-body with staggered or non-staggered wheels, but a little part of me dies everytime I see a Corvette without the stagger.
