Default Snapped 10 arp wheel studs

Snapped 10 arp studs when taking off my drag wheels. Had no issue removing the stock lugs and wheels at the track. When I removed my prostars yesterday I snapped 8 studs and striped the other two, I cant get two lugs out of the wheels, and the lug nuts are bulging in the centers. WTF I have the worst luck with wheel studs! Anyone else have issues? Arp says Im SOL because i used the lugnut method to press them into the hub since I dont ahve access to a press.....anyone else have issues with the shank style lug?

Did your lug nuts come with a spacer/washer? If they did, did you use it when you installed the wheels? I personally haven't had a problem with the shank style lug nuts on my bogarts after about 4 years of use.

BTW, pulling them in with the lug nut is a horrible idea IMO. Use the proper tool to install it and save yourself the trouble down the road.

When you used the "lugnut method" to install the studs, did you use the stock set or the shank style?

I used a stock one and a big bolt to space/center it.

i actually broke an arp stud as well. trying to remove it.
i installed them with a lug nut, and a breaker bar. no problems whatsoever.
i wouldnt recommend using an impact to install, i could tell you that much.

buy a stud installer next time. They're $40 from matco and with a little antisieze they make installing the studs very easy. But it sounds like you either have the wrong lug nuts or your overtorqued. What are you torquing them to? I've never seen this type issue with ARP studs before. Also did you use center rings? It's possible the wheel wasn't center if you have uni-lug and it beat the **** out of the studs

post a picture of the broken studs, it will be easy to tell from the fractures why they broke.

did you pull the studs thru with the lug nuts when you installed
them on the axles or did you remove the axles and get them pressed thru?

maybe you over stressed them when you installed them on the axles.
