need tire advice
Well yesterday i picked some GM stock Y2k rims for 200 so hopefully i got a good deal lol the fronts are 17x8.5 I have some tires in my garage 255/40/176 so im sure they will fit correct me if im wrong? the rear are 18x9.5 fyi not what i really wanted but for what i payed for cant be picky lol so for the rear how tall and wide can i go its for a Trans Am and its lowered 1.2in. I was thinking 285/45/18? Too big? Or whats the widest tallest tire i can run on the 18x9.5

275/35 and 285/35 on the rear is ok. but also take into consideration the offset of the wheel as it might sit deeper in the wheel well or stick out closer to the fender. either scenario could cause damage. But TA's have better luck tucking tires.

thats a 28" tire. depending on the wheel offset and rear springs (stock you will have a better chance) you should be able to clear it with some BFH and rolling the fenders maybe have to throw out the bumpstop

So basically its a hassle so ur advice is to throw a 285/40/18 cus it will require minimal to none modifications?
